Any interest in Tony Sipp, who was DFA'd today by Arizona? He'd likely have to be dealt for, but I doubt it'd take much obviously. Relatively decent lefty with 2 years of control left and is making around 1.2 this year.....

He's not bad. Hasn't been great vs. LHs this year, but typically is pretty tough for lefties to hit. Walks more than you would like, but the K rate has been at least 8 per 9 his entire career and is over 10 this year. I don't see why he wouldn't be worth a try. Though, he is a flyball pitcher that gives up some HRs.

i hate that everyone has the glove throwing gif, but i've never seen a gif of him running over molina

this is [expletive] great. best part is how lilly immediately just gets up and jogs to the dugout.

Red Sox designated RHP Daniel Bard for assignment.

The move was made after he walked 10 batters over 2 1/3 innings during his recent rehab assignment. Bard at one time looked like the Red Sox' closer of the future, but he had a disastrous turn in the team's rotation in 2012 and has never been able to recover. However, there's probably a good chance someone will make a claim on him in hopes of harnessing his big arm.

God I miss those 2007-2008 teams so much.

He no doubt fills all the criteria to classify as prime Theo bait.

Never heard of him, but the fact that he's 25 and a former top 100 (#100 in 2011, #99 in 2012) certainly makes him too Theo bait.

2008 is the best sports team I've ever followed day to day. They probably always will be, even if another wins a championship.

since 2002, the cardinals have had three teams with regular seasons as good or better than the 2008 cubs. AND they won two world series in seasons besides those.

theo and company will have been a failure if they don't give us a run or two as good as those.

This is the issue I have with the clown ass fans down here. Most of them are completely clueless as to how ridiculously lucky they were to win both of those WS. I would have preferred them to win it in a season they were actually a good team rather than those 2 bs seasons.

I would prefer they never win a game.

Based on his play, I doubt Benson would be a Theo type of guy.

@MDGonzales: Cubs OFDarnell McDonald, catcher J.C. Boscan and RHP Trey McNutt cleared waivers and were outrighted off the 40-man roster.

@MDGonzales: RHPs Rafael Dolis and Zach Putnam and OF Thomas Neal activated from 60-day DL, cleared waivers and were outrighted off of the 40-man roster.

40-man roster down to 37.

Alcantara is the only obvious add we've got. The FO has said nice things about Jokisch, so I'd tentatively think he'd be our second choice. I guess Loosen or Beeler with a strong AFL showing could get added. Still never got clarification on Ben Wells and his odd provision about getting added in 2013. That's worth monitoring. Paniagua's struggles help keep him from being a guy teams may draft, if left off. Of course, if MLB looks at his situation for what it truly is, he's not eligible yet anyway. Can see Jae Hoon Ha getting taken in the rule 5, maybe one of those other pitchers I just listed, that we don't protect.

The guys easiest to remove from our 40 man at this point seem to be Brett and Vitters. Szczur too. Brett being the one that could be DFA'd obviously. Gamel could get DFA'd too, forgot about him. Pitching-wise, Cabrera seems likely to be dealt to me, since he has no options left. Lim needs to prove more over the offseason to get us to pick up his option(2.5?). Bard could get DFA'd and re-signed for less depending on how broken he is. That's about it though, I don't look at Raley as being in any trouble of getting non-rostered.
