Chiefs tag Albert, sign Bowe (WR) and Colquitt (P) to long term extensions. KC could be interesting next year.

RT @jwyattsports: The #Titans are not going to place the franchise tag on TE Jared Cook. No one will be tagged

Wow, that's a really bad decision. I really doubt Cook will sign long term with us so a team with lots of holes and plenty of cap space just added another hole. So glad Bud kept Munchak.....

They probably don't want to go thorugh with the fight over what position he qualifies for, and that makes around a $4M difference.

To my knowledge he's never played anything but TE in the NFL so I'm not sure what the fight would be over. The number I've seen quoted would be a lot for him but not excessive by any stretch.

Cook wanted to be tagged as a WR and was going to go to an arbitrator to decide TE vs WR if the Titans tagged him (he played a lot of his snaps out wide).

Ah, hadn't heard about his plans to go to arbitration. I knew they played him out wide some, but didn't figure it'd be nearly enough to consider him a WR. That makes I a tad more murky but I'd still tag him.

I would think they would have every right to drop the franchise tag if they did go to arbitration and Cook won, so I agree with you.

Oh well, another TE option in free agency for the Bears.

he actually played split wide in over 50% of his snaps which is where the issue rested, as what position he was classified as made a difference in what his franchise tag number was.

I read somewhere that he only played 21% of his snaps as an "in-line TE". It's the same situation that Aaron Hernandez was gonna go through before he got his contract.

Same thing happened with Jermichael Finley a few years ago, too.

In any case, Cook would look pretty good in a Dolphins uni. ;)

Wow, I didn't realize that. I knew he was primarily used as a receiver, but I thought he was coming from the line more often.

Damn, Shefter just reported Dunta Robinson already has a 3 year deal with the Chiefs.

Not sure if you were interested for the Bears but no way would he come to Chicago to be a nickel CB behind Tillman and Jennings.

Nah, I wasn't interested in him for the Bears at all. The "damn" came from me thinking FA had basically started already. During the 3 day negotiating period. Then, I realized Robinson had been cut, so he could sign whenever.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the compensation includes at least a first-round pick.

There may or may not be more. For now, the Vikings get at least the Seahawks’ 2013 first-round pick, the 25th overall selection.

@JayGlazer

Seattle sends this years first round pick and a 7th rounder as well as a mid-round pick next year for Harvin. Win-win for both teams
