Emery's processes have been more sound than any Bears GM I've seen. If he hires this Treastman guy feel free to freak out while everyone else reserves judgement.

What is this about Emery's processes that have been so impressive?

Sound? You have no idea if that is true. As far as we can tell it has only been superficially thorough. All we know is that he's shown an interest in more than a dozen names (many of them very mediocre).

We know Emery has a very limited NFL resume, most recently in one of the worst run organizations in the game. We know his college resume is far from impressive. We know he showed early promise last offseason then came up well short of actually accomplishing an upgrade.

I don't see anything I would describe as "sound" so far. He had a press conference that made the media happy, since he said a lot of words. And he's talked to lots of people. The soundness of this process remains very much in doubt and the results could be very bad.

I think his offseason acquisitions and personnel decisions last year were good and I think making the decision to fire Lovie Smith when they were still solidly in playoff contention regardless of the regular season's outcome would indicate someone who has identified what intangible factors and vision he wants from his head coach. That's so much clearer, logical and methodical than anything a Bears GM has done in my lifetime that I'm not sure how you can feel otherwise, but ok.

I'm not sure why you'd expect people to "see" your nonsensically subjective view of the guy.

Because there is enough shared general knowledge of NFL football and sports on this board among even the dumbest members that makes a reasonable expectation of individual subjective views being similar enough to "see" different points of view, well, reasonable.

I read somewhere that the Packers used a very similar game plan as Emery in their search for a head coach, eventually settling on McCarthy.

The search probably isn't so easy when they have to mesh well with the new GM and a franchise QB. The early successes and failures also probably hinge upon preventing that QB from suffering any more career threatening concussions.

Why cant we just hire him as QB coach?

Is QB coach of the Bears better than HC of the Als? I'd say no. OC would be, but not QB coach.

That's fine if you share the same opinion of Emery based on what we know so far. But it's hardly anything resembling a universally accepted description of his "process".

Hopefully emery got enough bad feedback after a scare that we hired a CFL coach that he moves forward with the other dozen candidates.

I personally hope that Emery is not influenced by fan, media or even peer reaction and hires the best candidate he thinks is available.

i'm starting to get the feeling that emery doesn't care what people think of his hire.

I don't know, he changed his look after that silly glasses on a string around the neck thing when he was hired.

I hope there is more than one voice at the table on this one.
