I hope they are gooder at math than inglish.

The Cubs are projected by ZiPS to have, in shortstop Starlin Castro and first baseman Anthony Rizzo, to have a pair of basically All Star-type players who are also just 23 years old.

Reading Cistulli's Wikipedia page—which has been around for a while—is an exhausting exercise in wondering "Why does this exist?

oof- just three players projected to exceed a .415 SLG, one of whom's days are numbered here

That shouldn't come as a shock. Just look at the guys we have, we are going to struggle mightily to hit for power and probably consistently score runs as we basically have a bunch of ok-average OBP guys and singles hitter.

Checked the edit history. It's basically one person. 172+ edits there (Paris), 13 to the talk page, and almost no activity on the account elsewhere.

I can't believe we let Bryan LaHair and his 22 home runs just fly his ass on over to Japan.

Do you mean his 21 career HRs or the 16 he hit for 2012?

clearly because there is no possible way that Lahair could hit 22 hrs, but we should feel there is a chance that Stewart hits .250 with 25 hrs....

He puts up those numbers and manages 0 WAR? Wow.

I still believe in Ian Stewart. I have no earthly clue why.

I do too. He plays well above average defense, if he could find a way to slug around 400.

It does; LaHair is a walking turd, Stewart is going to achieve his late stage mutation and DeJesus is going to steal all of Barney's playing time. SUCK LANDMINES.

I must be missing something. Those projections show Stewart at .210 and 11 homers.

So now you are just making stuff up, huh?

ETA: Silly of me to say, that's been true forever.

just bringing up old statements that were equally irrational.

And for ol' Nuts, this is actually another example of what my original statement was about.

For the record I never said DeJesus was taking time from Barney. I simply said it seemed like anyone the new front office brought in as a project or gamble got very chance to succeed, while players from the old regime were looking to be replaced. Barney was my example, as it seemed they picked up every middle infielder off the scrap heap to replace him. He's not Ryne Sandberg but I just said why try to replace a decent, cheap and very good defensive player, that can at least play at the major league level, when you have so many other holes to fill. Especially when it looks like you have no one in your system to step in at those spots anytime soon. At this point we still still need another outfielder and a 3rd basemen.

Please understand, I don't think we need Lahair on the team. He is not a difference maker.

My only point was it's no more likely that Lahair could hit 20, as it is that Stewart would. For whatever reason everyone seems to be ok giving Stewart another chance but just can't stand the idea of Lahair.

A) Not everybody is ok giving Stewart another chance. Not even close to everybody, and it doesn't even seem like everybody.

B) Stewart plays a competent 3B while LaHair is an oaf.

a) Can't remember to many complaints that we resigned him.

b) a plus for stewart, his health would be minus...you can look at it anyway you want. There are reasons they signed him, but defense or not he is just as likely to be a "turd" as Lahair. I just don't get the hate for Lahair.

as for making things up, I think you are mistaking me for posters who disregard a stat, an expert or stat service (like zips) because it doesn't fit their arguments

I was pretty clear that I, in no way, think we should have signed Lahair. I just think the hate and pure disdain for even considering keeping him is odd considering some of the other "reclamation" projects we have signed and re-signed.

I think it's odd how little thought you put into the notion that the Cubs are desperate for 3B help and that's the only reason they have Stewart around and they are not desperate for 1B so there's literally zero justifiable reason to even consider bringing LaHair back.
