Hahahahaha cubbyvirus has gone full derp.

lol@ you thinking all is well and fine.

Yes because the only 2 ways you can feel about the team is 'ahhh everything sucks, we will never win again, we need 22 new starters on this team' or 'everything is fine, we're going to win the super bowl'

That is true, I'm pretty sure that is the only 2 ways he can feel about the team.

Yes I've clearly pointed out that I want 22 new starters on the team.

I clearly DID say this team will not win a Superbowl and they have a talent gap due to dreadful drafting which will only get worse moving forward once out old defense starts to break down.

Let's stop assuming this team is going to lose the GB game at Soldier. The Packers are a very beatable team right now.

Given the recent games against the Packers, I think it's fair to give the Packers a huge edge. For whatever reason, they have Cutler's number (and it's probably as simple as throwing Clay Matthews at Webb every play).

Are we even sure he's capable of the latter anymore?

No UMF, he's totally got me there, what with all my long rants about how the OL is perfectly fine and none of the injuries so far have mattered. Totally no cause for concern, you guys.

Having no injuries would drastically change the way Mike Tice calls games and also be the magic fountain of youth for our defense.

Oh, without looking at the stats, it appears our two best oline performances in recent games we have lost vs HOU and SEA.

A lot has to go right, obviously, but if the Bears beat the Vikings, the Saints, Rams, Dallas and TB lose, and the Redskins lose both tonight and next week, then the Bears clinch a playoff spot this coming week.

That's somewhat plausible just based on the strength of the teams that need to lose.

Wow that's crazy. You are totally right though. If we win and those all lose, the only teams that can tie us are Dallas, Minnesota and TB, and Dallas and Minny immediately lose the H2H tiebreaker, and TB can't catch us in conference record. That's nuts.

Go Bears, Giants, Bills, Bengals, Eagles (ugh), Giants again, and Ravens.

The Jay Cutler show was outstanding today. He talked about taking a hometown discount amount other things.

I was just about to come here and ask if anyone listened. I'm downloading it now and listening while I walk my dogs.

I'm glad he will take a hometown discount.

I'm interested to see how this offseason goes. If Cutler takes a hometown discount, I'd imagine he'd take it in exchange for getting some of what he wants (OL, TE). Emery is a new GM, and his future will be closely tied to Cutler's moreso than anyone else's if he signs him long-term. Emery will probably survive a coaching change at some point, but he won't survive if a Cutler led team doesn't seriously contend in the life of his next contract.

So what is a realistic extension for Cutler if he takes a "hometown discount"? Not sure how much of a discount we're talking about if he didn't go into more details. I know he's supposed to make like 8-8.5 mil next year. I imagine it's a 3-4 years extension after next season. Will it be still 8-9 mil/yr or more like 10-11?

As much as I think Gruden is a bozo, I'd love to see what he or Cowher would do with this team.

Cowher is a clown.

It was mostly joking around, but Cutler was pretty insistent it would be something like 5-10%.

Bears are trying out former LSU WR Terrence Toliver.

Good news: Jeffrey is on pace to return this week.

Bad news: Expecting not to have Urlacher, Bears re-sign Dom DeCicco.

There is the small chance that depending on the severity of Urlacher's injury he could have played his last game as a Bear. If he wants a nice big deal, he might as well walk.

After re-watching Sunday's game, the linebackers looked old and the defensive line inexplicably couldn't maintain gap control which is a major coaching blunder. Tillman didn't look good. What hurts most is we are lacking youth on defense, talent on offense and last years draft did little to inspire faith that those draft selections are going to be major contributors moving forward that can rectify our problems. Can Brandon Hardin amount of anything other then a backup or special teams player? (extensive injury history, never played safety) Can Shea be a full time impact DE? (size and strength a real issue plus playing out of position). If not then why does Emery draft those players as projects?

Emery did well with getting Marshall. Everything else he's done has kind of sucked. That's a huge win (BM), but way too much suck.

I've liked what I've seen of Jeffery while he's been on the field.
