There were like 36 eventual HOFers on the '62 ballot, but a lot of those guys probably don't belong.

agreed. at this point, i only care to the extent that i imagine the players would like to get in and are sad that they are being arbitrarily disallowed.

Yeah, same here. Getting worked up over a player's inclusion/exclusion just empowers the dopey writers anyway, and at its most basic level it's just a museum, like you mention.

I more root against people from getting in than hope for guys to get in. With every ballot update I see at BTF, the first thing I look for is how Jack Morris's totals have changed.

The only person I ever passionately cared about entering the HOF was Santo, and that they waited to enshrine him posthumously will always make the HOF a joke in my mind.

As it turned out, I sent my 2013 Hall of Fame ballot in blank. This wasn’t science. It wasn’t a clever attack in the three-front culture war among the players, the SABR s and the BBWAAs. It wasn’t a protest, either. It was just one voter’s inability to reach a comfortable verdict on a colossal mess that for years no one wanted to take responsibility for and that isn’t going to get any less complicated as time goes on.
