so God is pretty much just trolling baseball fans at this point, right?

Who cares about the Yankees anymore? They don't win every year, they don't buy every superstar that comes on the market anymore. Yes they still have the largest payroll in the game by a big margin, but that hasn't guaranteed them anything except 1 World Series title in the last 12 years. I'm not rooting for them or anything, but I honestly would be pretty indifferent if they won this year.

I don't dislike the Yankees at all. I wanted the O's to win just because I've seen the Yankees over and over again in the playoffs, but if every organization tried to win as much as the Yankees, baseball would be better off.

it's less the "trying to win" part than the "massive financial advantage and 26 championships" part that makes them so hateable.

but really it's nice to see some breaks finally going the yankees' and cardinals' way after teams like the cubs dominated the past century of baseball.

has octavio dotel pitched for every team in major league baseball or does it just seem like that?

13 teams in his career including 6 in the last 3.

That didn't look good for Jeter. No weight placed on that foot/ankle at all.

It's funny, I hate the Yankees and Yankee fans, and hate how grossly overrated Jeter is/has been (though he has been undeniably great), but I can't hate Jeter.

same. he's been a very good player for a long time and seems really well-liked by teammates, managers, reporters, etc. and he's a good leader, for whatever that is worth.

plus he's pulled some crazy tail.

Yeah, that's the main difference between how the Yankees and Cardinals have been run and the Cubs, the "breaks."

Broken ankle for Jeter. Bummer

But Ron Darling insisted Jeter was alright.

I feel like the Jeter hype has gone down as he's gotten older. The clutch praise he always received was annoying and the insistence that he was good at defense because of his jump throw (which did look pretty cool) also was irritating.

But the guy always has been pretty good. He still is pretty good and it always sucks to see good players get hurt, especially in the playoffs.

i'd say he's been way above "pretty good". moises alou had a "pretty good" career.

Nitpicking, but the Yankees have won 27 championships.

So, are the Cardinals going to come back from down 3-0, or just have a dramatic 10-run 9th down 9 in Game 7, or will MLB step in and decide the LCS runner-up gets a one-game playoff vs the LCS winner to win the pennant?
