Why did I have it in my head that if you pinch hit for the DH, you lose the DH? Was that ever a rule in any level of baseball?

If you put the DH in the field you lose the DH.

Just think, the Orioles could have swept this series if they didn't have Jim Johnson.

Raul Ibanez has entered Yankee lore tonight.

That must be what I was thinking of.

Orioles are the only team since 1900 not to suffer a walk-off loss. Incredible stat.

I don't get it

Better stated: "Since 1900, the 2012 Orioles are the only team to go a full season without a walk-off loss."

well, until now

Eff. We're going to end up with a worst case scenario Cards-Yankees world series aren't we?

So far every series is going against my rooting interests except the Reds and Giants, which was looking bad a couple of days ago.

Yankees-Tigers and Reds-Cardinals was the worst LCS I could imagine. Baseball is the only sport that actively taunts me as a Cubs fan almost every single year.

Ahhh ok that makes a lot more sense. I guess that's what happens when a team wins almost every 1 run game they play in.

I can handle the losing, I picked the Cubs after all. But why do the teams I dislike win so often?

Why'd Drew go for 3?

That is a horrible gaffe. Why risk getting thrown out at 3rd? You would have been on 2nd base with no outs and put a lot of pressure on the Tigers to get out of it. Instead its bases empty and the Tigers get a huge out.

He was just rounding 2nd when the cutoff man had the ball.

Looks like the 3rd base coach was waving him to 3rd which is terrible, but Drew could see the throw before he ran too far off 2nd, he should have recognized it and went back.

I am looking at Stephen Drew's career playoff numbers...he's played 3 postseason series, and in 2 of them his OPS was .627 and .580. Of course the other series was against the Cubs where he had a .500/.500/1.143/1.643 OPS with a 2B, 3B and 2 HRs in 14 AB.

In fairness didn't almost every D'back hit like crazy in that series?? Even Augie had a few hits I remember.
