Six years ago, at age 27, Kyle Lohse posted an ERA of 5.83, including above 7 in the Twins' half of his season. I just knew then that someday he would be the ace on a playoff team.

Go Giants and Braves/Nationals (hopefully it doesn't get that far). After that, I don't really care.

Yes, absolutely. Just so I don't have to listen to any more of the "watch the games, Billy Beane's never won anything" morons.

My predictions

Orioles 7 Rangers 5

Cardinals 9 Braves 2

Yankees over Orioles in 4 (LWWW)

Tigers over A's in 5 (LLWWW)

Cardinals over Nationals in 4 (WWLW)

Giants over Reds in 5 (WWLLW)

Yankees over Tigers in 6 (WLWLWW)

Cardinals over Giants in 5 (WLWWW)

Cardinals over Yankees in 7 (WWLLLWW)

Maybe I am just being a masochist, who knows, but I've seen this story before. Twice in fact in the last 7 years.

I hope my local teams, the Orioles and Nats, can advance.

Realistically, though, I'm going to be stunned if the Orioles can beat the Rangers. You never know in one game, but I don't particularly trust Saunders against that lineup, and Johnson ... eh. Orioles are going to have to score and keep it close that their bullpen can make a difference.

Predictions:

Braves beat Cards: the woeful Cubs fan in me says that the Cards will win it all again after entering through the back. The more logical side says that The Braves have too much depth, especially when it comes down to bullpens

Rangers over Os. Rangers depth will triumph over DC Area Feelgood Story II. O's have a phenomenal pen, but Rangers will take it out of the equation early.

ALDCS

As vs Tigers: tough one. Unsure how Tigers offense will fare in the As house, but when you have Verlander on the mound for 2 games in a 5 game set, the odds be with you.

Tigers in 5

Rangers vs. Yankees: still don't trust Yankees pitching.

Rangers in 4

NLDCS

Giants vs Reds

Giants win another one with pitching and Posey.

Giants in 3

Nats vs. Braves

This will be a good one. Nats first post season and franchises 2nd ends in a valiant effort, but a one-n-done all the same.

Braves in 5

ALCS

Rangers vs. Tigers.

Rangers in 5

NLCS

Giants vs. Braves

Like the Braves overall depth. Again, that pen is tough

Braves in 6

WS: Rangers vs. Braves

Rangers finally win one in 7. Dempster wins games 3&7, and in the end, the non-trade ends up as a difference maker.

Bring on the off-season!

You are being a masochist, and so am I.

I think a Beltway Series would be fun, but I think Atlanta vs Oakland is what I'd like to see the most. I have no real reason for that.

Darvish is going to tank cementing the Rangers as the lovable Buffalo Bills of baseball.

Go Athletics!

Go Braves!

Go Chipper!

I don't like the fifth team, but I can live with it. What I really don't like is the lower seeds hosting the first two games of the LDS this season because Bud couldn't wait a season to implement the fifth team. All it has done in the AL is push the tie-breaker back to Friday instead of being tonight and totally screwed up the homefield advantage aspect of the LDS. In the NL it has allowed the Cardinals into the postseason with the chance to actually have homefield advantage against the Nationals (best record in the league). Personally, I'd rather be the 3 seed than the 2 seed this season...

It definitely could be argued that they do.

Yeah, I don't know the math, but I'm fairly sure someone who looked it up would find that a very large percentage of the best of 5 series in baseball history have ended in fewer than 5 games.
