[expletive] Bourne. I was starting to think the Braves would actually tie the game when Bourne was ahead 3-1 and Motte was struggling to throw strikes, but he just blew 2 straight fastballs by him.

I've felt this one-game playoff idea was garbage since it was unveiled. This game is pretty much why.

Cards radio wants the game called. [expletive] them.

Of course they do. Looking for any excuse to end the game because their bullpen is trying to blow up.

What they don't want to do is uphold a protest and make them replay the rest of the game from this spot. I guarantee you even if the play could be upheld, they won't do it because of the chaos it would cause.

Oh yeah there's no way that would happen. Listening to Mike Shannon describe the whole thing was one of the most mind-numbing experiences of my life. What a moron.

2nd worst officiating call in the last month

As a Packers/Cubs fan if I was given the option of which one I could overturn, I would overturn this one. I can enjoy the rest of the Packers season. I can't enjoy postseason baseball when the Cardinals are still alive. Of course, ask me in 3 months when the Packers are a WC instead of a division champ because of that call and I'll give you a different answer.

Yeah, and Joe Buck and Tim McCarver were wondering if they would let the Phillies win the WS on a rainout. Must be a St. Louis thing.

McCarthy comes through again:

So in the infield? RT @Ken_Rosenthal STL fielders gathered in short CF to escape debris coming from stands.

I like it much better when Matt Holliday fucks up a routine fly ball and the cards lose a playoff game.

It has to be amazing to be a cardinal fan.

The Cubs have won one postseason series in any of our lifetimes, including Fred. Two if you want to count the WC tiebreaker game in 1998.

Today's game could be the Cardinals' 10th in the last decade.

Oh, and they haven't lost 90+ since 1990, though their farm system mysteriously hasn't shriveled up and died as a result.

Don't forget that they are now gifted an extra draft pick because they are somehow at a competitive disadvantage because of their market size or something.

Well, they didn't this year.

Nelson Cruz now wondering why infield fly wasn't call on David Freese's game-tying hit in Game 6 last year.

Being a pitcher I am really excited about the prospects of the new outfield fly rule

Jeremy Barfield ‏@Baseclogger

Infield fly called when the ball drops at the exact same depth as the LEFT FIELD umpire. Touchdown Seattle.

The Cardinals have had back-to-back losing seasons once in my parents' lifetime. 1994-'95 (and '94 doesn't even really count).

Before that you have to go to 1958-'59, 1954-'56, 1918-'20 and then they sucked at the beginning of the century. How is that even possible? Do you know how many different owners, GMs, styles of play, racial integration, etc. have happened over that time?

2003-'08 was probably the best stretch the Cubs have had in my grandparents' lifetimes and they had back-to-back losing season in 2005-'06. Of course, the Cardinals would have had a losing season if they were in any division but the NL Central in 2006 and they won the WS...

I've been in a wedding with that woman. She was a bridesmaid. I was an usher.

The rehearsal was the day the Cubs traded for Grabow and Gorzelanny. She was the Pirates beat writer then. I got the story from her before it broke.

I'm tired of the Cardinals. My favorite sport is the most unkind one to me.

It's a character building exercise. Or in your case, punishment for being an Iowa fan.

But that was some horseshit, to be sure. One of the worst baseball calls I've ever seen, and one that will go down in infamy. And that's not just Cubs fan sour grapes, either. That [expletive] was utterly ridiculous.

8th inning of an elimination game, bases loaded in a 3 run game with 1 out and that drama was taken away because of a judgement call? That's frustrating as a baseball fan.

Also, the infield fly is designed to protect the hitting team from a double play, how was a double play remotely possible there? Why does the ump wait until Holliday calls him off? Why is if the outfield ump who isn't even there in the regular season, placed out there to keep bad calls in the playoffs from happening, who made that call? Frustrating.

Baseball color commentators during playoff games are really, really bad. The intensity is ratcheted up and they feel the need to keep saying stupid things at a higher volume for some reason.

Of course, I'm complaining at a higher volume than usual so there's that too.
