RT @Ken_Rosenthal: Source: Vizcaino and Chapman to #Cubs for Maholm and Johnson.

Holy [expletive].

Good or bad? Vizcaino is 21, recovering from Tommy John surgery and hasn't pitched even 100 innings in any of his previous 4 seasons in the minors. Angel Guzman part 2?

doesn't matter. this is trade rape.

RT @jcrasnick: Arodys Vizcaino is the other player in #cubs #braves deal. Had Tommy John surgery in spring training.

Well that's very interesting.

He was supposed to be alongside Delgado, Minor, and Teheran in the Braves' pitching crop as the headliners.

This could turn out to be a reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally good deal for the Cubs.

You mean for a pitcher that was pulled off the Pirates scrap heap and a 4th OF that was scraped off of Jim Hendry's shoe? I'll say so.

Angel Guzman had shoulder issues (did he not?), TJS has a good success rate for recovery, and pitchers' elbows are often stronger once they return from it at 100%. Vizcaino is/was one of their golden arms prior to his TJS

Mark Bowman basically confirms it. Awesome.

Mark Bowman @mlbbowman

As @Ken_Rosenthal first reported, Arodys Vizcaino will be going to the Cubs with Jaye Chapman

It's Reed Johnson who all of you complained about for signing in January and Paul Maholm for a guy with unbelievable upside. I could easily see him becoming the closer of the future if he pans out. Great deal.

So basically, Theo and Jed just turned Soto, Maholm and Reed Johnson into two solid relief prospects and a potential top 100 pitching prospect. God damn.

Could not be happier with this trade. Vizcaino has an absolutely elite upside. Even if he can't make it as a starter he's a really good bet for a closer type.

Vizcaino, if he is indeed the guy, would immediately become our top pitching prospect, no?

This is spectacular.

I'd put him there.

He'd probably be the only pitcher in this system to crack my Top 10.

God, I love Theo. A great prospect for 2 guys who we came in basically expecting nothing from.

he basically purchased vizcaino for a few million bucks

Holy [expletive] is [expletive] right. This would be excellent.

I have to say that this is better than Dempster for Delgado. While Delgado may be the safer bet, from what I understand,

Vizcaino has the higher upside. And the fact that Maholm and Johnson were non entities to us 10 months ago, and Dempster is still likely to bring back somethin of value. Its like having our cake and eating it too. On the downside, the Cubs havnt gotten much out of Vizcainos in the past.

Well if you would have told me we'd get a top 50 prospect (40th per BA pre-2012) for Maholm and Johnson, I would have lost it. Even with the injury/durability issues I couldn't be realistically happier about a deal. We'll see what happens tomorrow...

(I know it's mainly Maholm) but everyone that complained about the Reed signing needs to eat crow.

Never! The only reason I haven't been derailing threads with my hatred of him is because Ian Stewart exists.
