I wanted to say that Paul Bako was worse, but he managed an OPS of .611. Also, I thought that he was with us longer, but it was only 2 years, and it was 2003-2004 when we were actually good so a crappy backup catcher was forgiveable.

Koyie Hill actually has the worst OPS+ of any Cub in history that accrued at least 500 PA with the club at 46. Aaron Miles was a 20 in 170 PA, Lenny Harris was a 28 over 146 PA, and Augie Ojeda was a 43 over 359 PA.

Other Cubs have accrued a lower offensive WAR simply because they played a lot more. Don Kessinger "leads" that list, but Hill is 18th behind such Cub legends as Joe Girardi, Rey Sanchez, Shawon Dunston, Manny Trillo, Ivan De Jesus, and Randy Hundley.

He played in 11 games batting .179 (11-for-39) with an RBI and three runs scored.

Fuzzy math? I get .282 when I calculate 11 for 39.

The Neifster had an amazing game winning home run at Busch that should automatically eliminate him from worst ever discussion.

Koyie's highlight is sawing several fingers off his hand.

"Jones is in! Here comes Koyie Hill... CUBS WIN!

This was in middle of the winning streak that got extended to 7 games by ARam's walkoff against Milwaukee. It's the only thing that comes to mind when I try to remember exciting moments involving Koyie Hill.

You've also got a rare Rob Bowen appearance there.

Yea, he really Howry'd the bed in that 9th inning, but he was rescued by the offensive heroics of studs like Koyie Hill, Jacque Jones, and Alfonse Soriano.

In fairness, Soriano was a stud in 2007 (to a degree, at least).

"To a degree?" Fangraphs has him at 7 WAR and worth about $28 million.

That defensive number for that year is probably a huge outlier. Soriano's defense has always been underrated, but he almost certainly wasn't the best defensive player for his position in baseball by a wide margin which is what fangraphs has him at in 2007. To compare, bWAR had him as a 4.1 win player that year. But he was a very good to great player that year with either system.

I'm sure all the assists he got before people knew never to run on him helped prop up that perception quite a bit. I think he was extremely valuable the first half of that year because of all the runners he gunned down.
