I get that it's fun to tell Kyle he's wrong, but might you wait more than 1 start and 80 professional innings for (annoyingly) haw hawing about a Cards prospect on a Cubs board?

Not haw hawing, just pointing out how dumb it is based on such a tiny sample. He might be great, he might be bad, we have no idea. What we do know is that he was impressive enough to be a first round pick, top 100 prospect and make it to MLB less than a year after he was drafted.

Where did some people get the idea that nine starts isn't a lot for K-rate?

Why do some people not understand that MiLB pitchers sometimes develop secondary offerings instead of dominating with refined pitches?

Not to discourage the amusingly odd defensiveness from Cardinals fans about Wacha, you do realize that I wasn't saying he was a bad prospect with no hope of a future, right?

Not really. All I saw was that you were careful to hedge your opinions with "probably", because you know how ridiculous you're being.

But hey, 9 starts of K/9 right!

Treating AAA games like spring training is the secret. I'm intrigued.

Is there any indication that's the case? I wasn't even looking for Wacha news and saw articles from Fangraphs and Baseball-Intellect that looked at his AAA starts and concluded he was likely to struggle at the MLB level to start given his stuff.

To repeat, we can all think critically here. Wacha was drafted as a fast moving SP without elite upside, and then the fact that he threw 1-2 IP at a time at low levels clouded some Cards fans on that point. His AAA numbers and reports we have on his stuff are consistent with that original scouting report. Citing the most obvious of these points as reason why Wacha won't be dynamite at the MLB level isn't being ridiculous. It's arguing a position that either no one is disagreeing with(Wacha is still a good prospect) or that no one would agree with(Wacha is an ace) that would be ridiculous.

You were concern trolling based on nine starts, while I was pointing out the flaws in your conclusion. It was not defensiveness.

I'm really confused about how that was concern trolling. Pointing out the negatives in a rival prospect's resume on my preferred team's board?

Atlanta has Heyward benched again today for Evan Gattis. They're talking about Gattis taking playing time away from Heyward on a regular basis.

Is it at all within the realm of possibility to buy low there?

He has been brutal this year (.519 OPS, -0.1 WAR) but I'd love that.

In retrospect, coming back two weeks earlier than projected after his emergency appendectomy probably wasn't a good idea.
