They had a piece on this on BT tonight; apparently MLB has approached two companies about developing protection for pitchers. The prototypes were basically caps with padded kevlar and seem to fit pretty well and didn't really look all that different.

What do they mean by "developing"? We give our maintenance guys headgear that looks like a baseball cap but protects them from hurting their head bumping it. The thing is even called "First Base" 8-)

I will argue to the death that the infield fly answer is wrong.

I don't feel as stupid now, I got 4/10 on that quiz.

I couldn't believe that you're not out if the ball hits you and there are no more IFs behind you

I couldn't believe that one either. I knew the IF fly one though.

Yeah only ones I knew for a fact were that and the lineup one.

I got 6.

I missed the Ben Revere on third, the bunt IF scenario, Adrian Beltre falling into the stands, the mound visit question.

The only one I got right that I wasn't sure of was the Swisher pushing Bourn.

But, I used to umpire A LOT of baseball in HS and college.

I got 5. That's some weird [expletive] that never actually happens in games though.

I was surprised by the Ben Revere at 3rd answer.

3/10.

Should've gotten 4/10 but I totally forgot about the 2 outs on the Morneau homer with Willingham missing the base. I know that you can get called out for that, but I totally forgot there were 2 outs and it would've ended the inning

2/10, and that's the one I missed that I felt like I should've gotten too.

I got 4/10. I thought that when the manager crossed the line back to the dugout, he couldn't come back onto the field. Guess I was wrong. Also, I apparently think kickball rules apply to baseball.

Tim Kurkjan did an article on the increase in strikeouts in the major leagues. I didn't bother reading the article because for effect he annoyingly capitalized the K in strike or strikeout every time he typed it in the article (such as striKe or striKeout). But it apparently talks about how people no longer fear striking out.

I'm not reading that because Kurkjan is a tard and I'm sure it talks about how only like 10 guys struck out over 100 times sometime in the 70's or 80's and how strikeouts rising is somehow ruining the game. Has there been a correlation in strikeouts rising and OBP/SLG rising over the same time period? I have to imagine SLG has increased with it.

Going by record against the other divisions, the AL East and the NL Central are the best two divisions in the league:

AL East: 116-84, .580

NL Cent: 109-87: .556

NL West: 92-94: .495

AL Cent: 111-118: .485

AL West: 91-106: .462

NL East: 92-122: .430

Out of the ALE and NLC, only Milwaukee is under .500 out of division. The Cubs are 20-18 out of division, which is a better mark than every team in the ALC, ALW and NLE except for Detroit and Atlanta.

Do you guys even watch baseball?

It's hard from my mom's basement. She has basic. I can't even get a girl down here to watch HBO.
