Former Cubs minor leaguer moving up in the world:

Marlins purchased the contract of 1B Justin Bour from Triple-A New Orleans.

Bour is taking Derek Dietrich's spot on the roster. The 26-year-old was batting .330/.407/.562 with nine homers and 36 RBI at New Orleans and will be making his major league debut when he gets into a game.

If the playoffs started today, I would absolutely love the teams involved

1 San Francisco Giants

2 Milwaukee Brewers

3 Atlanta Braves

4 Miami Marlins

5 Washington Nationals

Giants vs Marlins/Nationals

Brewers vs. Braves

1 Oakland Athletics

2 Toronto Blue Jays

3 Detroit Tigers

4 Seattle Mariners

5 Los Angeles Angels

Athletics vs. Mariners/Angels

Blue Jays vs. Tigers

The Brewers are the only team that I have even the slightest amount of dislike for, and seeing teams like the Marlins, Nats, Blue Jays and Mariners would be sweet. Plus the AL teams other than Seattle have a very mid-80's feel to it.

I don't want the Marlins anywhere near the playoffs because they'd somehow figure out a way to win it all yet again.

I don't really think mid-80s when I think the Angels and Blue Jays.

I seem to recall the Blue Jays, probably because of Reggie Jackson Baseball for SMS where they were one of the best teams. They finished above .500 from 83-89. They were one of the better teams in the AL despite only making the playoffs twice. In 87 they won 96 games and didnt make it, they also had a couple of 89 win seasons and didn't make it.

The Angels made the playoffs twice in the 80s and had 4 90 win seasons.

Who the hell cares about the stupid Marlins anymore? I'm over it. Yeah I get it they beat us in 03, their owner is a POS, they stole money from Miami taxpayers for a stadium no one goes to, and their fans are horrible, the few that they have.

I dunno I'd rather see a young unheralded core make the playoffs in relative obscurity than see the stupid Cardinals or Reds make it instead.

I'd sign up for the playoffs above 100 times out of 100 just to keep STL out of it, but I'd sure as hell be rooting for that organization to lose ASAP.

I don't even care about 2003 (as far as the Marlins go), that was more about the Cubs failure. Loria is a monster and anything that would validate the way he does business in any way would be a bad thing. Seriously, [expletive] the Marlins.

That'd be five different teams than made the playoffs in the NL last year. So 2/3rds of the league in the playoffs in a two-year span.

That would be, but I'd comfortably bet that Milwaukee and Miami don't make the playoffs.
