Baseball players suspended during the season for a performance-enhancing drug violation will not be eligible for that year's postseason under changes to the sport's drug agreement announced Friday.

In the most significant toughening to the drug rules in eight years, Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association said the penalty will increase from 50 games to 80 for a first testing violation and from 100 games to a season-long 162 for a second. A third violation remains a lifetime ban.

this is good but if anyone takes steroids this year it proves the testing isn't good enough and we have to up it to 300 games followed by a lifetime ban and then reevaluate

Can we just eliminate testing again?

That's way more fun.

I figure we get one or two more years of "man we're so awesome for eliminating PEDs" before they start trying to figure out ways to boost offense.

Javy will be up by then. That will be enough to tip the scales.

Yeah, you'd think they'd notice how much success the NFL is having and try to emulate them more.

I'm surprised the Yankees are only $100.

I have new found respect for the Blue Jays, Angels, Mets, Royals and Orioles

Why? If it's some Mets fan's dream to propose his girlfriend during a Mets game, why would they deny him that opportunity? DO THEY HATE LOVE?

I'm pretty sure I've seen some type of proposal at Kauffman before.

I'm guessing that they're just talking about with the help of the scoreboard/PA announcer, etc. I don't see how they can really stop you from proposing.

I meant like a between innings deal that involved the scoreboard in some fashion.

I was at a Sox game and saw a proposal on the screen and started ripping the guy to my friends about what a low-rent way it was to do things, and how typical of Sox fans. 3 rows behind me...

that would be pretty ballsy if the ushers just went around watching for guys down on knee so they could run over and demand fifty bucks

I didn't pay 10% of that (inherited a stone, only paid for the setting)

I'm probably on the low end of income for people on this board, granted, but $2500 is an absolutely stupid amount to spend on a ring.

(I spent just under $900, before anyone asks)
