Let's also not forget the instance where a certain NSBB (honestly can't remember who it was) member found his phone number, called him, recorded the call, and blasted "Go Cubs Go" on the other line immediately after the Cubs had beaten the Cardinals.

THAT IS A THING THAT HAPPENED?

Yeah, I seem to recall this, though the memory is vague.

Wait, who is this Elias guy and where did he come from?

I could only handle 3 seconds of his voice.

Elias is basically the stereotypical Cardinal fan.

Yep, he used to make creepy Youtube videos talking about the Cardinals like a [expletive] psycho. Plenty of overreactions to relatively meaningless losses, strange love affairs with gritty players like Eckstein and Aaron Miles, but the worst was his video he made after Edmonds signed with the Cubs. He eventually took the video (along with all the others he made) down, but someone posted a Desipio recap of the video on the last page.

...and you know, you went to two World Series there, you won your first World Series ring there…

Good qualifier. “First World Series ring.” Jimmy can show you his second one in the offseason. This one won’t be made out of straw.

*SIGH*

Holy shitballs. I made it 31 seconds. As soon as he started singing...

Ok, forcing myself to listen.

This is just awful. His background vocals of his own voice are flat. Now sharp... come on, pick a note and stick with it.

Ok, no I can't do it. I'm done. This whining nasal scream is just too much... It's twenty thirteen, let's get that twelfth ring...

Ok, the rap is worse than the rest of the song... his swing is almost as bad. wrong hand on top, buddy. Ever swing a bat before?

Ok, awkwardly walking away from the camera... HOLY [expletive], Where did they go!? They were just there... now they're gone! WHAAAAAAA???

The Cardinals are promoting the anti-bullying of LGBT youths on their Facebook page and the comments section is predictably amazing.

i like the guy who says there are more important things, focus on baseball, as if the game six starter is making anti-bullying posts on the cards' official facebook page.

Hahaha...Cards fans are such sensitive ninnies. Will Leitch says that none of them call themselves the best fans in baseball, then gives a self congratulatory list of 10 reasons why they might be the best fans in baseball...

I have to admit I like the "fans sing the anthem" thing. That's pretty neat.

The Cubs did the same thing, and the comments section was completely full of hate.

This says far more about comment sections in general than it does about any team's particular fan base.

I love in the comments section where the woman says it isn't their fault that their teams win.

No ma'am, your cardinals win. The rest of your teams are pathetic. Unless you are one of those Cardinal fans who jump onto winning teams in other states.

How does cheering opposing teams making great plays against you or cheering former bit players getting hits against you provide evidence for being a great baseball fan?

Also...

4. The Winter Warm Up. Every year around MLK Day, the Cardinals have a big Winter Warm Up event at a hotel downtown. It's basically just a bunch of Cardinals signing autographs, but Cardinals fans attend this event like a dying man crawling through a desert being offered water. (You can actually buy tickets to this event three months in advance.) The winter in St. Louis, when there is no baseball, is a barren, horrible thing; the Winter Warm Up is the first sign that it'll finally end. The entire Cardinals fanbase is an embodiment of Rogers Hornsby's quote: "People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."

OMG THATS SO CRAZY! Bless the man (obviously someone involved with the Cardinals org) that came up with such a great idea to have an event in the middle of winter to celebrate their baseball team. Why don't the Cubs do something like this?

In 2004, the Cardinals traded for Larry Walker late in the season. As he came to the plate for his first at-bat, he received a standing ovation. He struck out on three pitches. He then received another one. There is a reason the Cardinals have been able to cultivate and keep players, have been able to trade for stars and keep them: They know it's different in St. Louis, and they want to stay.

Holy [expletive], no other fan bases do something like this. I know when the Cubs traded for Nomar that same season, they booed him every time he did anything for the first month before begrudgingly accepting him.

This article is so ridiculous I almost think its satire.

What's even more incredible about that part is that the Cubs basically INVENTED that idea. I have a Cubs' book (I think it's Cubs Nation by Gene Wojciechowski) that details the beginning of the Cubs Convention, how no other franchise had anything like it. Of course, Leitch is too dumb to know that.
