Pujols said he's taking legal action against Clark and the radio station in a statement. Strong move from him though I have no idea how you prove slander in this particular case.

I have to think today's events of Clark claiming "Albert did steroids! The trainer told me he did it!" and the trainer saying "nope, didn't happen" are a pretty good start.

Since the break:

Royals 17-4

Tigers 16-4

Royals lead head-to-head 2-1.

Pretty rough only picking up a half game on the division (5 games on the WC). Although, they have gained a lot more ground on some other teams.

At the break the Royals were behind the Yankees, Blue Jays and Angels.

They were 9.5 out of the WC. The Cubs were 10 out.

The only thing wrong with Verlander is the insane amount of abuse he's taken over the past few years.

Unfortunately that can be enough to curtail a career. And unless I am mistaken, most pitchers who lose velo, especially when they're not particularly young anymore, don't get it back.

Didn't Lance Armstrong threaten to sue everyone left and right as well? Doesn't prove anything to threaten a lawsuit.

The trainer is the one he said had Pujols on the steroid regimen, so he's not about to say he did that whether or not it's true.

This certainly sounds like a more plausible slander case than most of the proposed suits I hear about, but it's a really hard thing for a public figure to win.

Now, if evidence of Pujols on PEDs does come out, I like the trainer's quote

I have known Albert Pujols since he was 18 years old, and he would never use illegal drugs in any way. I would bet my life on it and probably drop dead on the spot if I found out he has
Take that, Rodgers!
Geez Jack, why did you wait for Albert to leave town to drop this nugget? Sour grapes and wanting to make a ratings splash is all this is.

It sounds like he did it the first week he had a radio show.

Exactly, he was an fsmidwest guy and readily available to talk to the media to get this out there if he knew about it and it bothered him. No way some trainer told him this.

Do we have the name of this guy, because a few weeks ago I went to a prayer breakfast for my church and it was loosely sports themed with a former Chiefs player speaking. The guy I was in line with to get food claimed to be Pujols' first trainer.

He's at the very top because of park factors, but I didn't notice how high he was until recently too. Even looking at ERA+ he's level with Clemens and behind only Pedro(by a fair bit) among modern pitchers.

i assume the dodgers will sign kershaw to a long term deal this offseason, but it would be interesting to see how much he would get in his final year of arbitration. i'll guess that his long term contract ends up somewhere around 8 years/$240 million, including some kind of vesting option years that are reliant on health.

Not only did Armstrong threaten to sue people, he actually did sue the Sunday Times, and got a chunk of money in an out-of-court settlement. The Times recently demanded their money back.

Chris Johnson currently leads the NL in batting average and only Miggy Cabrera has a higher average. I know it's batting average, but Chris Johnson? Really?

His BABIP is ridiculous this season (.415).
