Say what you want about Mark Grace, but the brothers loved him: http://deadspin.com/old-scouting-report-on-mark-grace-the-brothers-love-h-509709164

Outstanding fielder. Always alert. Smooth, graceful, polished, mature, loves to play, the brothers love him. Team leader. Nothing but class. Rarely strikes out. Hits line to line with power. Can run.

Damn. Think Carlos Marmol has trouble with control? In 6 games and 9.1IP, 20 year old Rangers prospect Cody Buckel has a 20.25 ERA, 4.07 WHIP, and wait for it; 28/9 BB/K. Not a misprint.

Jason Neighborgall wishes he had Cody Buckel's command.

This is why I'm not a GM. I was pretty high on Buckel as the 2nd piece of a Garza deal last year.

Michael Wacha is getting a start for the Cardinals this week, less than a year after being drafted 19th overall.

He has a 2.05 ERA at AAA this year, but it's a total mirage, with a .197 BABIP, 86% strand rate and 5.8 K/9. I expect MLB hitters to treat him badly.

While few may rival Bryce Harper's talent, one quasi-prospect has claimed his Douche-Crown;

@BleacherNation: May Cubs never have a prospect story like this. RT @Deadspin Rays prospect brags about throwing change at strippper: http://t.co/IENVvLmmnH

FWIW, I'd still have rather drafted him over Hayden Simpson.

I'm shocked Josh Hamilton didn't do this first.

He got demoted for sucking. The quote that deadspin and some others are running with was a throwaway line at the end of a longer, more intelligent interview.

Uh, yeah, we all read where it said exactly that in the Deadspin piece...except for the more intelligent part, as if that somehow explains away saying something dumb. He could have just be giving a dissertation on wormholes or some [expletive] and then the whole thing would collapse with that one stupid point.

Not sure if this has been posted yet:

Robert Coello's forkball.

Should have been called a strike, if the catcher would have caught it.

Wasn't he [Porcello] supposed to be new and improved and strikeouty? He's struck out 3 of 52 batters he's faced.

He had a ton of K's in ST I know and they supposedly attributed it to a new pitch/approach. Clearly another example of ST stats being meaningless

April: 9% Ks

May: 26% Ks

pretty weird

Stopped throwing his slider and just throwing a curve. Would it be that surprising if it took a few games to really get the feel for it and confidence in it?

I expect more from you than making sweeping conclusions based on nine Triple-A starts.

I feel comfortable with the sweeping conclusion that any pitcher who can't K more than 6 per 9 in AAA in any given nine starts is probably going to have a tough time in the majors.

If there was a Joe Morgan figure in the sabermetric community this is the sort of comment I would expect from him.
