I just want Demp to pitch well. Finish as strong as possible, build the trade value, and if it helps the draft position, then fine.

The Cubs aren't just going to lead baseball in blown leads this year, they're going to lead by a huge margin. It's what happens when you have good starting pitching but simply refuse to score more than 3 or 4 runs.

I highly doubt this would happen but you never know. Obviously the expectations for Theo's first year are extremely low. But after all the talk about "the future is more important, but we'll also be trying to win now", how would you feel if this year's Cubs were historically futile? Like 41-121?

Would that change your feeling towards Theo, or would you just be satisfied as long as the Cubs are making steps towards improving for the future?

I'm guessing most would say that latter, but there are probably some that think that its not necessary to become historically futile and an even bigger laughing stock around baseball along the way to long term improvement.

Edit: Also if this were to happen, KyleJRM's nightmare scenario might come true and sooner than he thought, because I wouldnt expect more than 20K in the stands the last few months of the season.

In order for that to happen, a whole lot of players who are supposed to help us long-term would have to be awful, and that's not good.

But Ian will at least drag us to 60 wins by himself if he has to.
