we're getting two great recruits at their positions, but yeah, there goes all of our leadership and who ever really knows what the full effect of that will be

Iowa's running away with the B1G next year, so why bother.

So this is going to be your thing now?

Looks like Burke and Hardaway Jr are both going pro. Burke is absolutely no surprise, and Hardaway is not really a surprise, but I was hoping he'd come back for his senior year.

What's the speculation on Robinson?

I bet he goes, he's projected as a lotto pick.

He really hasn't said much either way but I'm thinking he leaves. Mitch McGary said the other day that he's not even considering leaving and is 100% committed to returning next year. I don't think anyone is worried about Stauskas leaving.

why would stauskas leave when he's blocked by oladipo at #1?

Good. Maybe he'll stop obsessing on me.

I thought he was the best player this year, I'm glad he won the award.

Sounds like the other axe is about to fall as Rutgers' AD, Tim Pernetti, is also getting fired. About time.

His resignation letter is pure awesome.

Dr. Robert L. Barchi, President

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey

83 Somerset Street

New Brunswick, NJ 08901-1281

Dear Dr. Barchi:

I write in confirmation of our conversation earlier today during which we agreed that it was in the best interests of Rutgers University that I step down from my position as Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. I do so reluctantly because I always have and always will love Rutgers. I want to thank the people who have supported me throughout my years as a student-athlete and Athletic Director and help them understand my reasoning in this situation.

My continued tenure as Athletic Director is no longer sustainable for the University which I attended and where a piece of me will always remain. In connection with the incidents involving former basketball Coach Mike Rice, as was the case with all other matters which I handled on behalf of the University, I always tried my best to do what is right. I have spent a great deal of time reflecting on the events which led to today. As you know, my first instincts when I saw the videotape of Coach Rice's behavior was to fire him immediately. However, Rutgers decided to follow a process involving university lawyers, human resources professionals, and outside counsel. Following review of the independent investigative report, the consensus was that university policy would not justify dismissal. I have admitted my role in, and regret for, that decision, and wish that I had the opportunity to go back and override it for the sake of everyone involved.

I trust that my tenure at Rutgers will not be judged by this one incident. I am proud of my efforts to lead Rutgers into the Big Ten, and of all of the accomplishments of our student-athletes in the classroom and on the field of play. I want to thank our great fans, the hardest working staff in collegiate athletics, and every one of our fine student-athletes. It has been my great pleasure to serve my alma mater.

Sincerely,

Tim Pernetti

Class of 1993

Sounds like a bunch of double speak to me. He tries blaming "the process" but also admits he went along with the process.

Not at all. He says he wanted to fire the guy but lawyers told he and the president that they didn't have absolute grounds to do so under school policy. Makes perfect sense.

I guess if the president or someone comes back and attacks the truth of his letter that would cast some doubt. But that reads exactly like what you'd expect from an AD made to be the fall guy after he wasn't allowed to fire Rice.

It's also exactly what you'd expect to hear from an AD covering his arse on why he didn't fire the guy.

No it isn't. That makes no sense. If he lies it only makes it worse and forever buries his career. This isn't such a huge deal that he couldn't admit he should have punished him more harshly and worked his way back up to an AD job again. This will go away and other schools will love the money he got Rutgers more than this in a few years. But throw the university under the bus and lie about the process? He'd be done forever.

So I am going to first say that I think the coach should have been fired immediately. However, I understand Pernetti's actions. I think the worst thing they/he did was once ESPN went in cable news network attack mode, Rutgers blinked. Just stand by your original bad decision. It was not like they/he did nothing or condoned the actions. He just probably did not go far enough and disciplining Rice. Of course I am not all that privy on all the details, so I may be wrong.

Good thing they voted on the Wooden Award before the poor shooting first 2.75 games :)

So we can expect him to flame out against Louisville and be entwined in a bizarre internet catfishing scandal
