Thanks for adding me in with the Bears. The Bengals will be cool, because of the multiple 1sts. As far as trading goes, I figured it'd be good because we already know the Rams will be trading out of 2 at the very least. Probably going to have some teams moving around for Tannehill as well. My idea for how to trade is let the owners operate on the honor system. Everyone here knows enough not to make ridiculous deals anyway. Use the trade value chart as a reference, but not as an absolute obviously, especially in the RG3 sweepstakes. If a trade is agreed to, we could either have Dew approve it, or have a group of 5, that vote on it, with the majority winning out.

That's an interesting idea and I could see it working well, actually. We have had the problem in the past of knowing a team wouldn't be selecting in the spot they were, but still keeping them there and this would fix that problem (which we definitely face with the Rams). I am a bit concerned about going crazy with it, though, and ending up with something that doesn't even closely resemble the current draft order.

Anyone else have thoughts?

No fighting over my team once again, I see. Although I should probably be fired as hypothetical GM after picking Gabbert over Newton in last year's draft.

I believe I got all of you assigned right.

By the way, I'm still waiting on soccer10k to volunteer for the Raiders and their entire draft of 2 picks - a 5th and 6th rounder. It still amuses me that that's all they have this year.

In the end, they'll get 3rd or 4th round comp picks for Asomugha and Zack Miller, maybe another guy or two as well, can't remember off the top of my head.

Good point, I forgot about comp picks.

What will be the tentative start date and time limits of picks. Its be kind of nice to lay out a rough sched that gets us through two rounds in a short amount of time as possible leading right to the draft. Something like a goal of 3 picks during weekdays and 5 on sat/sun. You could knock out a two rd draft in about 2 and a half weeks like that. I feel like we've waited around for 24 hrs in the past just to have someone not show up and it just is too slow. If we have a schedule people know when to be there to post or if they know they cant to pm someone their board to post their pick for them.

That's a good thought. I'm concerned that we can't get too regimented, though, or too many people won't be able to participate.

Will we start this before FA gets going or will we wait til we see some activity so we can see what holes haven't been addressed?

I guess I'll sign up for the Raiders. Not really any point considering their first pick isn't until the 37th round anyway.

Anyone know when the compensation picks will be announced? We might actually get a pick or two at the end of the third round.

EDIT: Ha. Just saw dew already made the Raiders joke for me.

Yea, it doesn't have to be too regimented, but maybe every 2 days or so post an expected number of picks to be made, so as long as you check every couple days, you'll know if your pick is expected within the next two days. If it moves faster than expected thats okay too, just update again in two days.

Another way to help is to try and make as many duos/trios as possible (even if it means doubling up) to increase the odds someone is around when a pick is up.

I'd like to do more than just 1-2 rounds, so we'll need to start before free agency opens - which is March 13. I was thinking around this weekend to start.

Maybe something like a running tally - every time myself or a mod updates the thread title to show who's on the clock, we could make a post showing who the next 2-3 picks will be so that person can begin to get prepared.

I've also encouraged people who are coming up soon but are unsure if they'll be available to make the selection, to PM me a list of 2-3 players they want in order of preference. That way I can go ahead and give them a little time and then go ahead and make the pick with their highest priority option. If more people would do that, it would probably fix that problem.

So, what thoughts do we have on allowing trades? I'm thinking it'd be worth trying out, while hopefully not going crazy with it. If we don't allow trades, we'll definitely be wrong on the second pick since the Rams are shopping it and somebody is almost certain to acquire it.

If I could get a few people giving a yes or no on the general idea and maybe how they'd like to see the trades work, I'd appreciate it.
