I don't know where this belongs, but the Cubs appear to be selling every flag used last season...and some random W flags from specific games. Have they always done this and I've just missed it, or are they re-designing the flags?...or #PoorTomRicketts?

I have seen them for sale at the convention in years past.

someone take it upon themselves (wekse?????) to just blow up a section of wrigley so they have no choice but to move

I feel like yeti could get that done for us.

They would just put up nets around that section and spend 4 years trying to get the ok from the city/ward/neighbors to rebuild it the way they want before caving and building it exactly how Tunney wants it. Somehow the insurance company would get out of paying for the rebuild and Ricketts would take the money from lost ticket revenue and for rebuilding that section of the stadium out of the baseball budget. Theo would by that point have 30 guys in the top 100 and the team would be finishing it's 7th or 8th consecutive losing season.

Cardinals use revenue from their ballpark village to field a $200M payroll and win their third consecutive pennant over the Dodgers. St Louis Post Dispatch writes article explaining how the Cardinals generate their revenue the "right way." Their competitive balance pick from 2015 wins World Series MVP.

How much would it cost in amusment tax/bribe money for the city to eminent domain the land at Roosevelt and the rail yard and give it to the team? I pledge $50.

You guys know as soon as the Cubs announce they're moving all those bastards will sue the Cubs to keep them in Wrigleyville.

I started to type something wondering how on earth someone could possibly sue them for that, then I remembered a couple posts up where the Cubs are getting sued for building a hotel on land they own that was approved by the zoning commission, because it's "unconstitutional".

And the worst part is Ricketts would find a way to lose that suit and have the damages be worse than they were asking for.

Let's just hope their legal team is working on contingency.

That would be badass. I'm sick of that area being a vacant wasteland so close to the Loop.

Care to give me a google map link of the location? I'm not too familiar with the area.

Sure thing: Link

It really is too bad it will never happen, because it's absolutely perfect. Walking distance from 3 El lines, a few blocks from LSD and 90/94, a long walk or short shuttle/bus from Union Station/Ogilvie, plenty of space for all the other revenue generating crap they want, and they could orient the view from the stadium with the skyline/Sears Tower.

Just west of Soldier Field I'm guessing.
