Hamilton is going to hold a press conference at 2:00 at the ballpark.

I'm surprised the Rangers are still associating themselves with this monster.

I wonder if the death of that Rangers fan Hamilton flipped the ball to could have anything to do with this. I could see how someone could feel guilt and blame themselves for what happened, and in that case an addict is most likely going to seek comfort in his addiction during moments of weakness.

Also I think I read that he does not have a "personal guardian" or whatever employed by the team-- someone to keep him accountable and to help keep him out of trouble. I'm sure the temporary lack of accountability to someone like that played a role as well.

Rumors here are that he hooked up with a chick in the bathroom at the bar. This is supposedly from Monday night (he admitted that he posed for pictures) but not the chick he allegedly hooked up with. The guy that originally posted it only released the small version so people didn't "run to the media" with it.

I never understood what people are trying to prove when they go out of their way to say they have no sympathy for someone in situations like this. If you don't care fine, but it's probably best to not say anything otherwise you come out looking, well, like Theo did in this thread.

Hamilton said he drank, then called Ian Kinsler to hang with him. He did not tell Kinsler he'd been drinking and said he was very good at hiding it. They talked, Kinsler dropped him off, Hamilton said he was going home, then went back out drinking instead.

This is going to sound glib, but I sure am glad I can drink beer and whiskey and not lose my mind. One trip to a bar could send this guy (and any addict) to all types of awfullness.

I'm really glad that I've never had to deal with addiction. I don't envy these people that are inexorably drawn to something that can, and often does, ruin their lives and those of those they love.

Hopefully for Josh, this is a small slip up, and he can get back to a successful recovery.

Lets not feel too bad for Josh Hamilton, he was born with lou gehrig's other disease: being awesome at baseball.

As with Lou Gehrig, it's the other disease- the real one- that may kill Hamilton.

I wish him the best of luck. Having said that, his "night on the town" probably cost him millions of dollars on his next contract.

not a chance

I guess we'll never know, but I would think that a GM signing him to an extension or a FA signing would have a few worries before giving him a gigantic contract.

The argument that he has greater resources to deal with this so he has less of an excuse than the average person is so so stupid.

What do you think is a larger gap between him and the average person?

1. Resources for treating the addiction

2. Opportunity to fail and exposure to people/people situations that would test his resolve

Theo = clueless

Let's put it like this, if anyone of us here decided to constantly throw our life away to alcohol, we would lose are jobs, families, possibly wind up in jail. He's been afforded every resource in the world to battle his addiction and still makes the conscious choice to walk into the bar. That's pathetic. Don't feel bad for the guy.

but why would you get upset about it?

I want to shoot Theo (the poster) up with heroin every day for the next 6 months and then look down on him when he is unable to stay off the stuff.
