Hearing the Bears may a trade for a safety before Week 1.

Also, would be nice to see Paea on the field soon. That pick is starting to feel like a waste.

Ugh. Bears are already down to 5 draft picks for next year. Id rather give Walters a shot, we are talking about a 4th safety anyway.

RT @JayTaft: With rep on line, Bill Parcells just used ESPN special to predict that # Bears would face the Texans in this year's Super Bowl!

Trent Dilfer, like Jaworski a quarterback-turned-ESPN-broadcast analyst, said: "We're going to be talking about the Bears' offense a lot. They'll be on everybody's radar, a hot-button topic. They'll do some awesome stuff, probably roll some people. Seriously, I think they'll run some people over."

What Jaworski can't recall, specifically, is a Bears offense ever having this many dimensions. "What drives defensive coordinators crazy all week," he said, "is multiple dimensions ... if you can throw it down the field, if you can throw it short, throw it horizontal, throw the intermediate routes, if you've got a good speed back, a good power back. And the Bears seem to have all those dimensions in place."

The O-line just needs to be average, maybe slightly above, not even good or great for many of those comments to hold true

"just needs to be average" is hardly an easily achieved goal for this group. Above average is probably a bridge too far. The Bears are going to have to make do with a crap line, because a crap line is what they have.

That was kind of my point, it's sad that all they need to be is average for this offensive to be explosive and they likely can't/won't achieve that

Ugh, anytime I hear Trent Dilfer or see him quoted I cringe.

He did a 180 on Cutler so I have no problem with him.

The line is crap although I will say from what I've seen from Webb is better than last year. Spencer is looking bad but cwill is an easy fix. Lance is looking serviceable and so is carmini.

Garza is ok. Average is doable and obtainable, only way they reach above is Webb really improves and carmini blows up to being a top notch RT. To me those 2 are the wild cards. I'll be estatic with average.

Your move, Schlereth

Both are horrible. Dilfer still throws in his jabs and never is 100% positive even if Jay has an outstanding game. Dilfer rails on Jay about throwing off his back foot, but Jay has proven that he's unique in the sense that some of his good throws do come off of his back foot and really only goes to that if the pressure is bad up front.

He pretty much stopped saying that after the game in Detroit last year and was glowingly positive on how well he played under ridiculous pressure and kept us in the game.

In this recent "QBs on the Clock" video, Dilfer named Cutler as an NFL quarterback most likely to step into elite status.

"I think Jay Cutler is going to blow up this year," Dilfer said. "I saw so much last year. I think once I saw it in person, being at 'Monday Night Football.' Watching his demeanor. The body language changed. The toughness. The talent has always been there. I saw him pay more attention to detail."

Dilfer sucks but complaining about him not being 100% positive is ridiculous.

When Cutler has a 3 TD 0 INT game for 300 yards or even a game lesser then that but still effective, Dilfer at least in the past would find a way to nitpick him. (cue the part where Jay throws a near INT on a tipped ball "THESE ARE THE THROWS THAT GET HIM IN TROUBLE AND HURT HIS TEAM.") I dont think Jay until recently has had a fair shake in the media after his trade demand and first year with the Bears. The guy has done great with shitty parts around him. This is the first year that hes had big boy receivers to work with.

that's all well and good, and I agree with a good part of it. But complaining about an analyst not being 100% positive about a player is ridiculous.

i love jay as much as the next guy, but his level of play has been up for debate with the kind of talent that he possesses. his first year with the bears was terrible, his second year was pretty good and his third year was about the same as the second. i think he's going to break out this year and become a perrenial pro-bowler, but he's not above cristicism at all.

And Dom DeCicco has been waived due to a groin injury that will prevent him from being healthy to start the year.

Bill Simmons, for like the 7th year in a row said " I don't think the Bears are going to be very good this year." In his most recent podcast. OK Bill

Keep in mind that before Cutler got hurt last year he reversed his earlier "Bears are going to suck this year" opinion and was saying the Bears were at least the 3rd best team in the NFC and a sleeper SB pick.

I guess if someone relevant puts you on the payroll, you can then spout complete nonsense every year and still be listened to.

In this week's edition of Sports Illustrated (Sept. 3), Peter King of the magazine predicts the Packers will advance to Super Bowl XLVII and play AFC champion Denver Broncos.

King predicts Green Bay 33, Denver 30 in the Super Bowl.

Interestingly, he has the Chicago Bears winning the NFC North with an 11-5 record. He has the Packers finishing 11-5, but advancing to the playoffs as a wild card.

He has the Packers beating the Cowboys, Bears and Saints to reach the Super Bowl.

King predicts Aaron Rodgers will be voted offensive player of the year, but that quarterback Peyton Manning of the Broncos will be selected most valuable player.

That just sounds like Peter King Feel Good BS

He's notoriously bad at picking, so I'm not putting a ton of stock in it.
