That's a competition where no one wins

his math is a little off for the projected division records...

Yep, which only adds to the hilarity.

Meanwhile, from CBSSports preview of the Bears...

There's no need to go down the list of Marshall's issues. They're well documented. The main thing you need to know is that the Broncos and Dolphins, both starved for talent, put him in an ejection seat. Marshall will do what Marshall does. He will score, be awe inspiring, demonstrate again that he's perhaps the second most physically imposing wide receiver in football behind Calvin Johnson. There will be ooohs and aaahhs, big catches and the usual pronouncements that his troubled days are behind him until the trouble comes back. And it always comes back.

The question, as always with Marshall, is when.

From an AFC scout: "There will be no average with this team. They are either going to be really, really good or implode. They're the only team in the NFL that I can see either in the Super Bowl or win four or five games. Some people think that about the Detroit Lions. That's not the case because they have a mentally stable guy at quarterback. I don't trust Cutler but I also recognize his incredible ability. Problem for Chicago you have one guy in Cutler who could implode and another guy in [Marshall] who could do the same."

What's funny about these is that Marshall and Cutler are being labeled as guys as being capable of "imploding", but there is nothing to suggest that will be the case.

First of all, it takes a whole lot of slants and angles to call Cutler's wanting out of Denver "imploding" when the team he just threw for 4500 yards for in his 2nd full season as their starting QB, at 26 years old was basically pushed out of town by his new head coach wanting to bring in an older, less experienced QB, drafted in the 7th round just because the coach was familiar with him. Secondly, if that's considered imploding, then when has Cutler ever imploded before or since the day after his meeting with McDaniels which caused him to request a trade?

As for Marshall, he has had several run-ins with the law. And we can go ahead and call those "implosions". But what has the man done since leaving Denver? He's been in the news for negative publicity 2 times. Once he was stabbed by his wife, there were no reports or charges filed that he did anything wrong in that incident. Secondly, was the incident before the trade to the Bears where an investigation revealed no reason to bring charges against Marshall for the incident of the woman being punched. I'm not going to excuse him of the most recent 2 incidents, because where there's smoke there's fire and he seems to have smoke consistently following him. But implosions they are not.

And he talks about the Lions being so stable at QB. Very stable with a guy that has only played 6 games more than 1 time. And he does mention that people think the Lions are capable of imploding, but he doesn't? If Marshall is an implosion OFF field risk? Then what are the Lions? They have had 5 players actually arrested AND charged with real things this offseason. They have had players implode on the field. They had a player kicked out of OTAs for punching a teammate. They have a coach that has glossed over everything.

The Bears never get any love. I dont understand the seething dislike for Cutler.

I realize it's difficult to have 3 teams from the same division make the playoffs, but I'm surprised Detroit isn't in the top 10 as well

Yep. And man, Detroit fans are pissy enough that the Lions are number 13 on PFT's power rankings (seriously, the comments, and the voting on them, are good times). I can only imagine if they allowed coments on the odds report on FO.

Unrelated: I wonder if Rosenbloom will print a retraction now?

Initially reported as a four-year, $32 million contract on Monday, Forte’s deal is actually worth $30.4 million. The difference knocks the average from $8 million down to $7.6 million, which is less than the $7.7 million he would have earned under the franchise tag in 2012.

Very detailed breakdown of Forte's contract at PFT:

Detroit's been good 1 time in the last 15 years and they're fans are annoyed they're not considered favorites?

That, and the Bears are gonna be higher than them in some rankings. The Lions fans think they're 2nd only to GB.

I'm still finding it amazing the Bears may have a WR corps the opposition is going to have to game plan for, no more smurfs who have trouble getting open and fighting for the ball. After watching the Bears defensive backfield deal with Calvin Johnson the last few years, it's great the Lions are going to get the same treatment from Marshall and Jeffery - it's about [expletive] time!!!!
