Detroit's been good 1 time in the last 15 years and they're fans are annoyed they're not considered favorites?

What do the last 15 years have to do with the team they have right now?

Posted (edited)
Missing "have" twice, missing a "not" and missing an "a." Plus an extra "e" in there.

Thank you, don't know what I'd do without your grammar checks. - Even had to edit this statement, should have ran it by you prior to posting!

I'm still finding it amazing the Bears may a WR corps the opposition is going to game plane for,

wut

Thank you as well, you're better than a programmatic spell checker.

Doesn't have anything to do with the current team. But it has everything to do with the current fans' expectations which was the damn point of my comment. Not sure what's so hard to understand about that.

Really, Brandon Marshall has shown nothing to suggest he could implode? Really?

Assuming you are talking about my post. I NEVER said he's done nothing to suggest he could implode. What I did say is that what he did in Miami can't really be considered imploding. He didn't miss a single game due to suspension. I don't recall any blowups in practice (ala the Denver practice where he batted down every pass instead of catching them and walked thru drills). Not saying he was a model citizen in Miami, but he didn't do anything that affected them negatively on the field and his PR issues were squashed.

He's done plenty to suggest he could implode, but mostly opposing defenses. I'll take these odds against the gb boy wonders.

I just don't see the relevance. If my team were really good, my expectations would be high, regardless of the previous 15 years. The point isn't that Detroit is really good, but that only the current state of a team should dictate fan expectations. I'm not sure what you're so mad about, though.

But that's not how it works. Pirates fans aren't spouting off all over the internet that they aren't WS favorites. Nets fans aren't claiming they're championship bound because they know their history and know they still have to get thru Miami. Bottom line a team in a division with 2 teams that were better than them last year (when healthy in the Bears case) and 1 of those was the best team in the league last year coming off a SuperBowl win the previous season. It's fine to have expectations but the fact that nobody is putting what was a perennial loser ahead of plenty of better or similar teams with a better recent history should not anger Lions fans.

They're probably upset, in part, because of the nagging suspicion that their team won't be able to translate the one year of success into many. Like you said, especially in the NFL -- one year of success is nice, but it's an entirely different thing to jump up to being a perennial contender.

LOL. I love how every Bears article written by someone outside of the organization can be summed up as such.

I hate Cutler, but he really grew up last year. I mean, he's still a jerk but he's a very talented QB.

They had to (past or present articles) pay Forte. He's their best offensive weapon. They might have overpaid, but he's the only player on the team!

Brandon Marshall is crazy! He gets kicked off of every team he's ever been on (2) because of his crazyness! It's almost like he has a personality disorder or something! But the Bears have to put up with his crazy because he works well with Jay Cutler, who is talented but only had good seasons when he had a threat at WR.

Defense and special teams win every game for them, they score 100s of points off turnovers, 100s off of returns, and give the offense short fields, which is good because Forte is their only weapon and Cutler, who I hate, is always hurt behind that poor offensive line.

But if they are healthy they can make the playoffs and if they are lucky, they could possibly beat Green Bay, who is vastly superior to them.

You forgot to put tons of emphasis on backup players, but otherwise, pretty accurate.

SBnation ranks the Bears as the 27th best WR group...

http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2012/7/23/3175624/nfl-receiver-rankings

What a terrible list. I guess I can buy Detroit #1, if you go by the theory that Calvin Johnson is so much better than every WR on earth that he alone makes them the top WR corps. But if that's the case, Arizona should be much higher. But Cincy at #7 with AJ Green and 3 rookies? Jackson and Maclin in Philly ranked higher than more productive duos such as Nicks/Cruz, Wallace/Brown, Jones/White, Austin/Bryant? I even think 31 and 32 are mixed up.

Objectively, looking at the Bears, I could see us behind the top 13 of that list, minus the Chargers, and behind Houston and KC.

So far, Garza, Chris Williams, Spencer, Mannelly, Podlesh, Earl Bennett and DJ Moore have all shown up for camp.

I believe today was rookie report day, and tomorrow is full squad report day.
