Big practice for DE Shea McClellin. He made a host of plays. Easily his best session of camp.

Chicago Bears ‏@ChicagoBears

LM: #Bears rookie DE Shea McClellin shows his athleticism, leaping high to intercept a Jason Campbell screen pass.

Good rush by McClellin right there. Blew past J-Webb.

Keepin it 100 here. Bears going live now and McClellin is ballin. All over the place.

Matt Bowen ‏@MattBowen41

Thought Rookie DE Shea McClellin had his best practice of camp. Active, around the ball, some speed and technique off the edge. #Bears

So now the pick is not a bust? Thank God!

I have high hopes for Brandon Hardin (eventually). Dude really looks the part.

lol...shocker that McClellin wasn't actually a bust after his first couple of practice.

Great to hear positives about him though.

I think the Hardin and Conte draft picks were almost direct responses to the division the Bears play in. Both are former CBs, who can't really cover speedy WRs, but Hardin should be able to run with most TEs, with the size to not get completely outmuscled by them either (Finley). Conte seems like he was brought in to help with WRs like Calvin Johnson breaking into the last level of the defense. I have high hopes for both actually. Hopefully this works out.

Yeah, we'll see how long that holds up...

Are they doing anything different or something?

Supposedly the Bears are being allowed to take part in the maintenance/care this year.

I think the Bears got themselves a steal in UDFA James Brown.

i imagine they're thinking of putting him at LT and sticking C Williams back at LG.

but then again, they really like louis and spencer, and some people think rachal is the truth. so i don't know.

There are far too many moving parts and position changes on the line. They gotta just plug and play.

williams has been at 2nd team RT for a several practices now. i doubt they'd move him to starting LG, but I suppose stranger things have happened.

He's played every pos except RG and c, it wouldn't be that strange

The strange part would be based on the fact that they haven't even remotely hinted at him being the starting LG this year.

He was originally in a battle for the starting LT spot and after several practices in a row with the 2nd unit (and at times the 1st in place of Carimi) at RT, it looks like he's at the very least behind in that race. I don't necessarily know where they'd put him if/when he's officially declared the loser in the LT race, but I'd be surprised if it were LG after giving Spencer all the snaps there.

I'm guessing Webb, Spencer, Garza, Louis, Carimi will be the starting 5 in that order.

C. Williams, E. Williams, Brown, and Rachal on the bench. I think they keep 9 guys for the OL.

Hub Arkush on the Score today said he doesn't think Chris Williams will even make the team coming out of camp.

Hub is [expletive]. There's no reason to cut Williams. If absolutely nothing else, he's depth.
