Can he throw a football yet?

Can he do it with a really careless attitude yet?

He's already sitting around with his bid on top of his head, looking like an (awesome) douche.

Sorry if this has already been posted, but I hadn't seen it until this morning.

"I've been in situations in the past where we were treated like kids, like a high school football team, and guys would rebel," Marshall said. "Guys police themselves here. So when it comes to curfew, things like that, you don't see guys sneaking out their rooms during camp. Everyone understands their position, everyone understands that, 'Hey, he's treating us like men and we need to be professionals.' I appreciate that part of it -- it makes you wanna work that much harder."

"I've never had a coach come up to me and tell me what he was thinking, and be honest about that on and off the field," Marshall said. "Off the field, they expect me to communicate, and be a pro and a leader in the community. On the field, it was shocking when he walked to me and told me, 'Hey, you're one of the pieces to get us to the Super Bowl.' That says a lot. That says what they think of you, how they think of you, how he thinks of you. For him to come up to me, it made it real simple for me."

Eh, good for him. It's not something that matters at all, but it's a nice gesture for players. We could probably use him now though.

I was thinking the same thing. I always liked him and was excited to see he signed, but then saw it was a 1 day deal and got a little sad.

I give Lovie a lot of credit for his leadership style and approach. I worry about his schemes, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find a coach who players feel better about working for. Not sure how much a difference that makes to the W-L record, but I don't see how it could have a negative effect.

The effect is that his teams tend to get stronger as the year progresses

Huh, I can't say I've seen any evidence of that particular benefit.

Did you miss the whole football outsiders discussion on weighted averages??

Over/umders: Cutler 4000 yards passing? Marshall 100 catches? Forte 1500 rushing/receiving yards? Jeffery 60 catches? Nears offense top 10 in NFL?

Personally, I answer over to all, other than Jeffery, who I think will be extremely close to that number.....

I'd take the under on Forte and Jeffery. I don't think they will be throwing to Forte nearly as much, and the rookie will be about the 4th receiving option. As for the offense, I'm guessing they end closer to 12/13 than top 10. There's still a hell of a lot of powerful offenses that have proven it. The good domed ones will finish ahead of them. NE/GB and at least 2 of the 3 good NFC East offenses will be ahead.

Remember, as positive as everybody has been about this new look, this is still Mike Tice's first go as an OC, and a whole new system for a group of guys that haven't done crap, and the line is awful. The upside is there, but I have to assume there will be a setback or two.

Cutler Over. Marshall Over. Forte Over. Jeffery Under. Offense Push

Cutler over 4k yards, Marshall under 100 catches but over 1k yards, Forte over 1500 all-purpose, Jeffery under 60 catches, Bears in the Top 10 in O.

Good points. Especially on Forte's receiving yards. That said, do you see Jeffery 4th in catches? If so, behind Marshall and who else? Bennett and Hester?

I'm pretty sure goony wasn't a big fan of the Alshon pick to begin with.

I'd personally put him 3rd behind Bennett. Possibly 2nd, but I feel much more confident saying 3rd.

I think Cutler gets over 4K. I'll take the under on Marshall, but think he's over 80 and probably over 90 also. Forte will also be close, but I'll take the under. He'll be under 500 yards receiving with the addition of an actual WR and throwing to the TEs, but I also think he'll be under 1100 rushing due to Bush getting on the field more than Barber because he can actually catch the ball too. Jeffery won't get anywhere near 60. I'll be happy if he gets to 30. I'd really love if one of Hester/Benett get to 60, but if they both get between 40-60, with 40-60 from the combo of Jeffery, Weems, Sanzenbacher....that would be awesome. Offense could be top 10, but I'd guess the under in the 12-14 range.

I wasn't a fan but that's not the issue. It's not all that realistic to think any rookie WR is going to come in and catch 60 right away. I'm very intrigued about what he's capable of down the line. But I'm not expecting a ton his rookie year.

And on the other hand, it isn't impossible to fathom him catching 60 when his competition is Earl Bennett

His competition is Marshall, Bennett, Hester, Forte, the TE's and all those veteran defensive backs (plus the Bears offensive line).

If I'm guessing yardage totals, I'd say Marshall 1200, Bennett 700, Jeffery 600, Hester 600, Forte 300, and everyone else combines for 800ish.
