Man our Dline is gonna get us in trouble this year. For years, Peppers has been getting tag teamed without much help.

That's a different depth chart from what's on the Bears website. I'd imagine the website is more accurate. Has a lot of differences including OL, LBs, DE, DB

Yes. Williams as the LT and RT backup sounds more on line with what they're saying.

Couple thoughts after looking at that ChicagoBears.com depth chart:

-DT does look a little thin, but with McClellin in the mix at DE now that could allow Idonije to go back to the middle in a pinch if needed.

-Surprised to see Ricky Henry backing up Louis at RG instead of Brown. If I remember right from the draft, Brown is better suited to play guard. Unless C. Williams is cut/traded, I'd have to think he'd be more useful there. He's probably better than Rachal/E. Williams, or will be shortly.

-Really liking the depth at CB this year.

-I wish we had someone besides Steltz to backup Major Wright, who won't stay healthy.

I think the key with the DL is going to be the DEs. The Bears are going to have to get a LOT out of McClellin or Wootton (having a great camp FYI). If one or both can provide some outside pass rush, it will allow the Bears to do things to help the lack of DT depth/talent. Peppers can play inside some on passing downs, as can Idonije as you mentioned. Wootton could probably play in there too at 6'6" with his long arms to bat down passes. But gotta get someone to get after it on the outside to even do that in the first place.

I think Hardin is ultimately in the plans at SS. Once the team gets comfortable with Hardin, I think Steltz backs him up at SS and Wright is the backup at FS.

Urlacher has missed 5 practices...

It's training camp. 5 weeks to the regular season, and he tore his mcl/acl like 5 months ago. A sore knee is probably gonna happen.

"Like" 5 months ago? It's August 6th. He got hurt 7 months ago. Sore knees are going to happen but missing multiple practices for health reasons is disconcerting for an aging football player.

Yeah ok, math is hard.

Theo, it was said last year that Urlacher refused to sit out that final game. Lovie approached him and he said he wanted to play. And yeah it's really concerning that he has missed practices that aren't just veterans days of rest. 5 of them in a row is pretty bad, especially considering today was the 10th practice of camp.

I understand that, but in theory, shouldn't the head coach have the final say?

Yeah, and not only that but it was just a sprain, which shouldn't take 7 months to heal.

On most things, but telling a star player he can't play in the last game of the season isn't one of them.

Lovie Smith says he's confident Brian Urlacher is going to play this year.

Urlacher was excused for personal reasons today? Did his girlfriend convince him not to get shots or something?

Sorry, turns out it was Olivet Nazarene's Chad McDaniel. He was watching practice in a purple #54 jersey. Saw 54 and thought it was Urlacher.

Just bring in McKinney at LT for a tryout already

There might be a logistical problem with that considering he is under contract currently with the Baltimore Ravens.
