If they're going to up the penalties based on the fact that players lied about their actions, then I figure Braunie gets a lifetime ban from the get-go.

Man that would be so awesome. Never happen... but that would be fantastic.

The thing that has jumped out to me is the number of Yankees and former Yankees involved, directly or indirectly, with Biogenesis.

It shouldn't be a surprise that elderly New Yorkers are flocking to south Florida in an attempt to prolong their lives.

Weren't there some initial allegations that A-Rod was acting as some sort of middle man/promoter of Biogenesis to guys in the league to get them on whatever PED(s) they were making?

Wait, so a serious question here... Yasmani Grandal, Cabrera, Colon, etc. have already served a suspension for PED's. Their first strike. If they're double charging everyone for Biogenesis, will they get a lifetime ban since they already had their first strike? Grandal is only 24.

My thinking is that prior busts are included on the list. So with Cabrera, he served his 50 games; assuming that the offense in question is the one that he was previously suspended for, I can't imagine that the players union would allow MLB to give him double jeopardy.

As for Braun, his case is more complicated; on one hand, if this is the same offense that he was already given a suspension, appealed, and won, if MLB re-opens it that too would be double jeopardy.

Even if it is re-opened, and MLB aggressively pursues a 100 game suspension, the players association could be extra protective of him due to the sentiment that MLB's coming down on him extra hard as an act of vengence to save face after allowing him to slip through their fingers last time, thus making their system look bad.

It was suggested yesterday that MLB is going to use the "denial while knowing it was true" as the first offense for Braun, and the Biogenesis proof as the second offense which would result in a 100 game suspension. The way Braun went after the guy that handled the sample using him as the scapegoat was very "Lance Armstrong-ish". I hope he gets the suspension, appeals and sees it upheld. He'll probably sue MLB.

When the [expletive] is Yadi's name going to pop up on one of these lists. I'm sick and tired of hearing about how he's the greatest of all time blah blah blah.

My problem is with his "everyone is a lying [expletive] but me and im going to be a sarastic jerkoff to everyone else because im a douche of the highest order."

He could have simply said the allegations weren't true, but he chose the super-duper rafael palmeiro route, pointing his finger in everyone's face. Bad strategy, man. Lol

Milwaukee fans are starting to turn on him. A local TV station did some fan interviews last night asking them how they felt about Braun refusing to cooperate with investigators. They were all ripping on him, saying if he's innocent he should have nothing to hide, etc.

The players receiving 100 game suspensions might get them started quicker than we think. If the first 50 games of the suspensions are upheld, they might start serving the time while arguing over the next 50.

In Braun's case, I'd be happy with a 50 game suspension, a public apology to Dino, public service announcements telling kids how bad it is to use steroids and then lie about it (NSBB posters get to write the script) as well as daily urine tests for the rest of his playing career.

Considering the Brewers record this year, that's fine by me.

I have two family members that have had Brewer season tickets for as long as I can remember and didn't renew last year when this all started pretty much because of Braun. They all hate him for this.

That's ridiculous.

I know. I called them idiots for it. They were really good seats too, they had 4 seats only a few rows behind homeplate.

I'm actually a 'season ticket' holder too, I've got a 20 pack and go to all the Cubs games up here, sell some (like opening day, bobblehead days) to recoup my costs and go to a few others. With their crappy effort I haven't done much recouping this year...

Anyway, based on the crowds I'm seeing and fan sentiment it would be pretty easy to get nice season tickets back at will...

Yeah they had a full season package and usually let me buy in on most Cubs games and a few games a year when a team/player was in town I wanted to see. Even though the Brewers have hit 3 million fans a lot in the last couple of years tickets have always been quite easy and cheap to get during the season for the most part, the only benefit was the first dibs on playoff tickets/not having to pay secondary market value on them. But I don't think Brewers fans/ticket holders need to worry about that anytime soon.

I thought PED suspensions weren't publicly announced until all appeals had been exhausted.

There's a clause in the collective bargaining agreement that says if the PED use becomes public knowledge, then the commissioner's office can (must?) make the punishments public, immediately.

Somehow Braun was able to plea a deal for only 65 games.

Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 1m

Already some anger in baseball that Braun got only 65 games: "They gave that piece of (expletive) a deal?" one person said.
