Severely disappointed. Would like either 4 or 6 teams per league, not 5. Would rather have 3-game series instead of a 1-game do or die. Nothing to add to the discussion, just my opinion. Whatever, win 6 straight divisions and I won't really care.

More interleague...hello everyone having the DH.

About damn time, too.

Not really, they will have to do without it as much as we will have to endure it (depending on the balpark). There's no more DH than there was before, thank God. Maybe they'll look at finally getting rid of it and getting back to real baseball.

Nah, you're in serious denial if you're thinking the bold part.

1 game playoffs are awesome because they're rare. This sucks.

They are awesome because they are win or go home games, which are rare since most series don't go 5 or 7.

What's the point of a 3 game series? Everybody acknowledges that 5 games series are too short, a 3 game series is going to be quite random. It's not anymore fair, but it will be an incredible waste of time and very difficult to do with travel and other obstacles.

It's far more likely the standard becomes DH for all rather than no DH. Every level of the minor leagues uses a DH and most, if not all colleges use the DH.

The point remains, but aren't there one or two leagues in MiLB that still let the pitcher hit?

Possibly some of the independent leagues, but every affiliated league uses the DH now.

I prefer a no game series. Let's determine the winner based on some sort of tiebreaker. Most wins is preferred, but I'm open to fewest losses as well.

30 team league, 174 game season. Everybody plays a 3-game series home and away vs. everyone else. Best record is the champion.

I wonder if both wild cards get champagne celebrations with shirts/hats. I'm sure MLB would love the revenue boost, but man those shirts for one game and done teams will be depressing after the fact.

Why did they originaly move the Brewers over from the AL? They should have just moved them back, at least there's a history there.

because they went from 28 teams to 30 teams, and had to keep an even number on both sides. Bud's club wanted to play the Cubs and Cardinals. The issue is somebody has to go the AL west now, and Houston makes sense with Texas already there (and a convenient ownership change facilitating a little hand forcing.

Hell no.

Plus I don't think anyone ever said there would be more interleague play. I believe it will just be spread throughout the season.

Can't say I wouldn't love the DH eventually coming to the NL. I don't need to see some guy who has no business swinging a bat at the major league level come up a few times a game. I don't find that entertaining.

Personally, I'm okay with sacrificing 4-5 ABs a game to have the increased strategy in the later innings.

I am in this camp, although it is probably closer to 2 AB's that pitchers actually take per game. The strategy is part of the reason I prefer National League rules, but I also like that a team's entire 25-man roster matters in the National League more than it does in the American League because every player on the bench could see action on any given night.

I agree, AL rules seem pretty sterile to me. Also, I was counting both teams with that 4-5 figure.

National League pitchers averaged 4.56 PAs per game (combined for both teams). That's one helluva estimate.

I'm glad I'm not the only one on these boards that feels that way.

Hard to decide what I hate most about this idea.

i hold no illusions about the fate of the nl rules, but definitely agree here

i've always held out hope for a modified dh, where the dh would only be able to hit in the starting pitcher's spot. in every other situation, the non-dh rule would apply.

I don't care either way. The "strategy" as it stands right now translates to little more than "welp, I can breathe easy, the 7-9 hitters are up" or "durrrrr, me do double switch now and then be hailed as genius when me completely and randomly luck out."
