The Cubs should take him to Cafe 28 if he visits the city. Great Cuban food just blocks from Wrigley. But if he asks them to show him a Cuban person were screwed.

Hopefully he isn't scared away by the fact that our star player is named Castro.

Is it really that good? Certainly pricey.

I almost went there for brunch last weekend.

There's a place near the corner of Western and Charlestown in Bucktown that it is pretty damn good as well.

We better hope his tsay during Untouchables was pleasent, because the team that can get the support of Andy Garcia will get Cespedes, that simple.

George Ofman insinuated on Twitter someone's made a bigger offer than the Marlins.

Seems to outright say that to me...not insinuating anything.

A team has made a bigger bid for Cespedes. Cubs? Sox? Will he take more money than Marlins offer?

Cubs and White Sox both make the most sense. They both have the money and the need. The Cubs have a crowded outfield but could easily make room for him.

The White Sox really don't have a right fielder unless anyone is really suckered into believing that Lillibridge or De Aza are big league starters. The White Sox are a rapidly aging team with no relevant prospects beyond Addison Reed so it could make sense for them to buy one. However, in the past few years, The Sox have rolled snake eyes on 3 high risk gambles and if they're stuck with one more big money bust, 2005 may no longer be enough for Kenny to keep his job.

And of course, Kenny Williams would probably love pull him Cespedes from under both Ozzie Guillen and the Cubs. I've said before that the fact that the Sox already have 2 of his countrymen could be very attractive to him, possibly more do than a city with a much higher Cuban population.

Good thing the Cubs have 3 of them then

I should have been more specific. What I meant was that they have Alexei Ramirez and Dayan Viciedo at the big league level, not a few 18-20 year olds who may or may not ever make the big leagues. I'm not sure about Viciedo, but Ramirez was also a star player in Cuba, so it's good to have guys that you have something in common with when you're relocating to another country. This is not to say that if the Cubs or anyone else were to make him the highest offer that he wouldn't take it and worry about making friends later.

Yoenis Cespedes, who met with the Miami Marlins and toured their new ballpark on Wednesday, could head back to the Dominican Republic as early as Thursday, said his agent, Adam Katz.

"Nothing is scheduled for now," Katz said when asked if he and Cespedes plan to meet with other teams before the 26-year-old Cuban outfielder departs. He declined to say whether Cespedes had met with other clubs besides the Marlins since he arrived in Miami on Tuesday.

Cespedes had lunch Wednesday with Marlins president David Samson, executive vice president Larry Beinfest and general manager Mike Hill, then got a firsthand look at the Marlins' new park, which is located in Miami's Little Havana neighborhood and is set to open in April.

"We had a good meeting," Katz said. "They made a very impressive presentation. Discussions are ongoing and productive. But there are several other teams in the mix."

the fact that he only visited miami kind of makes me think he's going there and is using other team to try and get more from the marlins.

It very well could be the case, but I'll think it's just the closest place for him to meet with everyone at, until proven otherwise. I think we're in this thing bigtime and will actually be a little surprised if we miss out. At the very least, I fully expect that if he winds up with the Marlins, it'll take a HUGE deal to get him. For some reason, I'm starting to think 6/72 is what he's going to get. He's not even the one I want out of him and Soler, but I really think we're getting Cespedes, for some reason.

Whose to say the Cubs didn't fly someone down there to talk with him?

i'm sure they did. i'm saying that miami is the only location where he visited and checked out the stadium.

Perhaps he's trying to decide between less money and a better social situation in Miami or the better financial deal he can get from another team ie the Cubs.

Does Cespedes REALLY want to be that close to Cuba? I'm sure there are plenty of Cubans in Chicago.

I take it you've never been to Miami

There are a decent amount of Hispanics in Chicago (I think the 2010 Census was 32.9% Black, 31.7% White, 28.9% Hispanic...but it's difficult to classify perfectly because there were two separate ethnic questions), but the majority are Mexicans. If he's looking for a large Cuban population, it's all Florida, all the time.

EDIT: FYI, Miami is 70% Hispanic, 19% Black, and 11% White. 34% of that 70 is Cuban.
