I don't get a lot of Astros fans. From a few forums that I've read it appears that they are looking for a new team to cheer for because of them moving to the AL. Say wha...?

If the Cubs had to move to the AL or Royals moved to the NL, I would understandably be very pissed off, but I don't get the thought process behind ditching the team entirely. Seriously, would anyone here stop following the Cubs if they had to move to the AL West or AL Central?

Apparently Crane is considering a name change when they move to the AL next year. This would be an excellent chance to bring back the Colt .45's.

Of course not. But you'd probably see a lot of the same comments.

Nobody's switching teams. Who are they going to root for? The minor league clubs in the area? Go for it. Maybe the Astros will eventually move west because they lose support in Houston -- I don't know. That's about the only choice they have. They can deal with it, or stop supporting their local MLB team.

I can't say I care all that much.

Houston Hombres

In the early/mid 2000s I thought they should have been named the Houston Honkys.

yeah they did have a ton of white starters back then: Bags, Bigs, Ensberg, Ausmus, Everett, Kent, Berkman, Oswalt, Clemens, Pettitte, Wade Miller, Lidge

That team was so homogeneous it made Omar Minaya say damn.

Eh, they have a right to be annoyed but the fans will stay on board. Houston has drawn very well (with the exception of last year) since moving in to the new park.

I hope they don't change their name.

They've averaged 12th in attendance the past 10 years. The Houston-metro area has around 6 million people and Minute Maid is a terrific place to watch a game, so yeah they'll be fine with attendance.

If we're taking this seriously for a moment, what about something like the Houston Bandits, Renegades, or Outlaws? It'd be a counterpoint to the rival Rangers.
