You may not be hostile, but you sure do have trouble reading. Go back to the very post you responded to and see the part where I said "everyone." Go ahead. I'll wait here.

....

Done yet? Ok.

I was merely putting a suggestion out there to cut down on the repetition from everyone (there's that word again!) and not just me. If simple, well-intentioned suggestions bother you that much, you must have some issues.

You know what would really cut down on the repetition if you can't keep up with the pace of the thread? Going to a news source for news instead of asking on a message board.

or suicide

Guy's take it easy. I think you guys are just misunderstanding each other. Take a step back, look in the mirror, and just admit you're both a little right and a lot wrong.

I think they're 30% wrong and 40% right.

Completely agree.

the only time i'd tell you to take it easy and take a step back is if you standing on a cliff and facing the other way

I don't know who this new guy is, but he's funny.

What's next? Theo to play 2 for the Bulls? Maybe he's on a weight gain program to plug in at LT? Or is he actually going to be a part of the Cubs organization? BTW, how many pages were the Roberts and Peavy threads? Has this one eclipsed them yet?

Erik doesn't have time to read through the entire thread, but would really appreciate it if mods would, and then update the first page every 3 minutes when news gets tweeted.

So we're going to do it this way, then? Ok, fine. I've got some time to kill....

Excited to see where this goes.

Kap's a little testy on twitter

Thanks for the confirmation. RT @GordonEdes: It's done, according to source: Hoyer to join Theo as GM of Cubs, Byrnes new GM in SD

No, I'm not disputing that. Selig just used it because McCourt is running the Dodgers into the ground. What I'm saying is that it does not apply here. This is a simple trade negotiation between two members of the club. If one side is being obstinate the Commissioner has no authority to make that side be reasonable. It goes well beyond his job. He can bitch about it and say come on boys lets be reasonable here, but his job is to speak for all the owners. If he sides with the Red Sox or Cubs imagine what would happen. The other owners would not stand for it.

First, you are correct, Selig might not exercise his authority because he's concerned about the consequences. However, merely because he would not does not mean he could not.

Second, I'm not sure why you believe the "best interests of baseball" has any limitation at all. You may repeat ad nauseum that entering into such negotiations is not within his authority, but you've given no reason that's true. By it's plain language, "best interests of baseball" can be construed so broadly to encompass basically any action within MLB. Selig may think it's in the best interests of baseball not to have an MLB employee (directly or indirectly) held hostage; not to set a scorched-earth negotiating precedent for front office positions; or even that Epstein is super awesome and should be the Cubs GM because he could make the Cubs super awesome as well. By the clause, Selig would just need some colorable rationale why his action is in the best interests of baseball. That clause ostensibly makes him a dictator.

If this isn't resolved soon quite a few of us will be doing this.

Well, the Boston media are making him and Levine look like idiots.

Guys and gals: So I flipped over to WSI and there is a dude called: "fenway" who posts there. He lives in Boston and he just posted that WBZ-FM just was told by KNBR that they have heard Ricketts has contacted Oakland to speak to Beane.

Again, this is from a guy who lives in Boston and is listening to the station. It was Posted 5 min ago.

I might puke.

He also said this:

Nick Cafardo was just on WBZ-FM and said: We are starting to learn that any report from Bruce Levine or David Kaplan is suspect

Please say this is a joke.

There's a whole hell of a lot that could be done in the best interests of baseball that Bud does not because the legal ramifications and/or the fallout from interfering with an owner's business is too huge. Why the hell would he interfere here? It makes no sense.

I hope it is but this dude is not a troll and lives in Boston. That said, it's going against Edes tweet right now. This is insane.

The day the Theo contract with the Cubs got announced I had recorded the Dan Patrick Show to see if they had any relevant guests. Kaplan was the choice. He was so smug and kissing up to Dan, it was hilarious. At the end, Dan is saying goodbye and Kaplan says something to the effect of "next time you're in town, lets get together!" You could almost see the awkwardness on Dan's face, as he said "ok".

At this point I'd at least consider any Cubs rumor. DePodesta as yet another AGM? Sure. Earl Weaver to manage? Sure.

Heard this: Epstein/Hoyer plan on having five assistant GMs that, in times of crisis, combine to form Voltron, Defender of the Universe.
