Mutiple outlets saying if Ricketts snags Theo and Sanberg, it will be arguably the biggest PR coupe in sports history.

Multiple outlets, eh?

No not really just multiple outlets quoting the same stupid line about Theo wanting Sandberg for a minor league job. For some reason that equates to him wanting Sandberg for the major league one. Because it makes for nice publicity I guess. just because you want something to be true doesn't make it so.

I don't want to see it happen, but it makes more sense than you're apparently seeing. Unless Theo has someone else particular in mind, it seems like the likely choice.

Theo apparently likes him, and might see him as a guy who he can make an extension of the front office.

One fourth of that would be, yeah.

Lower left quadrant.

I think the lower right is still better. But mostly Theo makes it work in my world.

What makes it such a likely choice? And what evidence do we have that Theo believes he could turn Sandberg into an extension of the front office?

Gotta feel for Mike, though. He really was tossed into a situation where he was just a sac lamb. Now, I still think he is bad manager and he looked clearly in over his head this year. However, this has to be weighing on him, unless Ricketts has talked to him privately ala Jim Hendry.

Red Sox President and CEO Larry Lucchino had no comment on general manager Theo Epstein's potential move to the Cubs.

"We are not commenting on that type of issue unless and until there is a resolution. That has been a consistent policy and practice of the Red Sox for years," Lucchino said. Epstein led the Sox to a pair of World Series titles in nine years on the job. Reportedly the clubs are working out compensation regarding what Boston would receive to release Epstein from his contract. "Before this is truly resolved, I think Theo will change his mind a few times," said one of his Red Sox employees.

theo is hired and introduced, brings out sandberg, who is now back with his ex-wife/handler/manager cindy. Sandberg walks around the stage a little bit, francona, wearing a balck leather jacket in the stands, jumps over the barrier while ryno's back is turned and hits him with brass knuckles. theo smashes him with a chair, cindy kisses francona and epstein as dave martinez is announced as the new manager. ryno is spray-painted and leg-dropped by theo and fade to black, credits.

Which means basically the details are being worked out. Not "deal done," but nobody can deny it's serious and well-involved.

In other words, Theo can not now go back to Boston and claim he wasn't considering leaving.

Because Ryno wants the job, Cubs fans (most of them) want Ryno to have the job and Theo apparently likes him as a managerial material (he tried to hire him as the AAA manager)?

And I used the caveat "unless he has someone in mind".

Listen, I don't want to see Sandberg as manager one bit, but if I had to handicap the field, I'd put Ryno as the favorite.
