Hey folks,

I've posted here for a long time, but lurk for the most part. I'm a Cardinal fan in Chicago, my parents are Cub fans and my wife is a Sox fan. I have a pretty good understanding of all the rivalries.

I want to echo the sentiments of a couple other Cards fans. I'm excited that the Cubs are making bold moves that could set them up for some true sustained success. I don't expect anyone here to be happy (at all) about the Cardinals 2011 season, but I hope I'm not alone in recognizing this is a great rivalry. There is nothing I enjoy more than June & July games at Wrigley watching both teams. I went to Game 1 of the NLCS in Milwaukee and all I could think about is how amazing it would be to one day do the same at Wrigley. This last decade hasn't really seen the Cards and Cubs matched up on the same years. Rivalries are meant to be competitive and I can't wait for September and October games between both our teams that matter.

2012 and onward should be some fantastic baseball theater for all of us.

Let's face it folks. The Cardinals are and always will be the toast of the National League. As Cubs fans, we should respect that. We are lucky they consider us a rival. We will never be anything more than "lovable losers", but that's okay.

Yes, us Cubs fans. Doofus

That's what I was thinking when I saw the trolls.

I for one assume the night my team wins a championship, I'd be trolling rival message boards.

If you're going to try to troll, please be more creative. You could at least put in the effort not to show your IP address is from Memphis.

Weak.

Why are you even approving posters who registered last night and today?

So I can capture IP addresses and ban them permanently.

It's not as if I expected to fool anyone. I hate trolls, so for that I apologize. Just having a little fun. You guys were pretty brutal.

Hopefully the Cardinals AAA team shares the big league's love of DUI while you're out for a walk.

Thanks for the apology.

However...

If you hate trolls, why spend what has to be a very, very happy Saturday morning going to a rival website and pretending to be one of their fans like this?

They do, it's taught. Shelby Miller was suspended this year for just drinking. Don't half ass it on Tonys team.

This really sucks. My roommate is still drinking and celebrating. I went down near the ballpark to take in the atmosphere at Paddy O's. I lasted until the fifth inning, but couldn't take it anymore, went home, had a few beers, and went to bed. I blame Marmol for this month of crap.

Actually, it seems to be a nice way to vent frustration this morning.

That's what makes it a true rivalry. It doesn't matter if the teams are tied for 1st or ones in 1st and the other 30 games out, the games matter regardless. With the Cards/Brewers, for example, they had a strong rivalry this year as 2 teams always will when in a pennant race but in a few years time when 1 or both teams become irrelevant, it will be forgotten. Kid of like Cubs/Brewers in 2008. Aside from those of us who have to del with Cheese Balls on a regualr basis, most Cubs fans don't care either way about the Brewers, although their fans feel differently I guess. Cubs/Cardinals will never go away. In fact, aside from Yankees/Red Sox, is there a more intense rivalry in baseball? Maybe Dodgers/Giants.

Carpenter is going to allow five hits and one run over seven innings and Harrison is going to get lit up. 6-2 Cards.

Pretty much spot on. Score was exact and each of Carpenter's numbers were off by one.

But how much better did the rivalry get when the Sox started to become a real threat to the empire the Yanks were building? There has to be some level of competitiveness for the rivalry to really mean something.

I had no idea that Dodgers/Giants was more intense than Yanks/Sawx.

I would say running the risk of getting shot/knifed/gang raped qualifies as intense.

Stems all the way back to when they were both in New York. I guess they have an argument based on the history and, most recently, fans putting each other in comas.

As a Cardinal fan, I sincerely hope Theo turns it around for your team. There is nothing more exciting in Stl/Chi sports than a competitive Cards/Cubs rivalry. Those early to mid 2000s races were a lot of fun.

Best of luck (or just a little less than the Cards) to you guys.

Well Allen Craig and David Freese just lead you toma World Series, it's gonna be tough for us to be luckier than you. Thanks though.

It was also pretty lucky that they got that 0.08 inches of rain that "forced" the rain out and allowed Carpenter to pitch the clincher.

It also helped the Rangers as well where they could pitch Holland on regular rest in game 7. It's not the Cardinals fault that Ron Washington decided to throw Harrison out there a guy, who got rocked in game 3 vs. a guy who gave up 2 hits through 8 innings in game 4.

Absolutely if the Cubs won the World Series then the first thing I'd do is register for a bunch of Cardinals message boards to troll them. Oh wait, no I wouldn't. I'm thinking that would rank about dead last on my list of things I would want to do at that point.

Yeah I really don't understand starting Harrison over Holland either.
