Probably not newsworthy, but the Hawks traded Segal to Tampa for "future considerations." He actually had 25 points in 53 games in Rockford, which I didn't know. But whatever.

Also saw that Nabokov has a no-movement clause. Do they just give those out like candy now?

EDIT: And the Wings got Kyle Quincey. Good move, eh newusername?

I do not mind Quincey. I may even think he could possibly be worth a very late 1st rounder. I just think it has to be slightly embarrassing to the Wings how Quincey has gone full circle and cost a draft pick because management valued other young dman more highly.

That's true I forgot they originally drafted him.

The yapping heads in NHLN sure liked the deal.

Hell yeah Kruger making up for the goal he caused in the first.

And say hello to your suspension, Stuart. One game.

Hell of a win. Great job Crow. He made me nervous in the first but ended up playing a great game.

We still need some help, but gotta love that one.

every team plays a trap at some point

But it seems that the Hawks are running it a lot lately. Of course I do not watch all Hawks games, so maybe I am just catching them at the right times.

Probably seems like a good option when your team has massive trouble clearing the puck. Even when playing conservative they make dumb mistakes which lead to backbreaking goals. I can understand it even though I hate the concept.

Just saw the highlights on NHL.com, looks like it was a very entertaining game and Jimmy Howard was amazing as he always is against us.

Also, kind of frustrating that the Wings and Predators have already made trade deadline acquisition and I am not seeing a lot of serious rumors for the Hawks (maybe I'm missing). The guy on the score tonight got me all worried when he suggested that Bowman is afraid to deal his prospects. He thinks Bowman will do nothing. If so that's a little frustrating.

i had already settled into the "bowman is punting this year" mindset. unless there is a low-hanging fruit for the taking, i just don't see him making a significant move at this point.

I was a little surprised to see that Detroit isn't all that great on the road this year, in spite of being the top team in the Western Conference.

Still a great win, but they've been much less impressive away from their building.

Yeah you can withstand a mediocre road record when you get 53 of 58 points so far at home. That's unbelievable.

They only have three home losses this year (regulation and OT). The next closest team (St. Louis) has seven.

this team is so weird

Yup. I can't decide whether to get excited about three in a row, even though they are were each against top 5 teams (points-wise) in the league. I still see significant holes on the 2nd and 3rd pairings and on the 3rd and 4th lines. The goaltending has been inconsistent, though I think that is as much a product of bad defense as it is shoddy play by Craw and Ray.

The inconsistency will continue. There's really no reason it would disappear this late. If they were going to solve the holes, the giveaways, the spotty goaltending -- they'd have done it. It's not like they aren't trying, waiting for some magical date to turn it on. They're doing what they can. It's just a flawed club right now.
