For those who care, Janzen Jackson has enrolled at McNeese State. My guess is he'll play there for a year and then enter the NFL draft. He'll be a really interesting guy to watch in the draft.

Just in time to intercept about 6 of Jordan Webb's pass attempts in the season opener.

Since the offseason thread is locked:

The Big XII is going to be starting at asking A&M for $28 million to be able to leave. Guessing is going to end up going for $15-$20 million where as A&M is asking for $10-$15 million.

We just need OU to bolt to the Pac-12. When the conference folds there will be no exit fees. :)

S Florida makes me nervous. I'm high on nd for the first time in a while but I wish we opened with someone like purdue.

I'm excited to see these freshman ends though. Glad I only have to wait until 12:30 this year.

That's not what he said.

Notre Dame is also interested in pursuing a stronger relationship with the University of Texas. The two schools’ football programs are scheduled to play a four-game, home-and-home series, starting in 2015, but Swarbrick said there are no plans to make it an annual game.

“I don’t know if it would ever be an annual game, but we do want to play more games with Texas and play them in more sports,” Swarbrick said. “Both schools are committed to athletic programs that have excellence.”

Swarbrick told me that Notre Dame would never change conferences because a new location would supposedly offer an easier path to BCS bowls and a BCS championship. He also added that his school’s contract with NBC is “really important and critical to our future,” even beyond the football part of the equation.

It's really going to temper those expectations when you start the season 0-2.

I'm so ready for LSU-Oregon on Saturday. I am not, however, looking forward to watching Jarrett Lee at QB.

Were you comfortable with Jefferson at QB? I think I would rather have Lee.

I'd probably just stick Mettenberger out there and hope for the best. I don't have much faith in either Jefferson or Lee.

That suggests you were comfortable with Jefferson, which...why?

I still can't fathom that Webb is the starting quarterback for a major conference team.

I really hate the one PPV game a year in the SEC. All this buildup to the first week of the season and Tennessee/Montana is on PPV - meaning I won't get to see Tennessee's first game live til next Saturday.

No local watering holes picking up the telecast?

I don't know which places around here pick up PPV games. I'm not a drinker so I'm not familiar with any bars in the area and the only restaurant places near me are Shoney's and Ruby Tuesday.

I'll probably end up listening on the radio to the UT game and watching LSU/Oregon on mute.

If you have a sports bar in your area, it'll pick up the game.

If you mean at this point in his career, I agree. If you mean, ever...I think it's kind of a silly POV.

He was a 3 star recruit, and he's not wholly untalented. He was the #28 pro-style QB in his class, ahead of QBs taken by Stanford, Fla St., and a few other ACC schools. But he's not the kind of guy who should be starting as a RS sophomore. He's the kind of guy who should be able to step in 3, 4 years in the program, after he's developed physically. Unfortunately, he's the best we've got at this stage. He has allegedly improved his strength and arm.

If the O-Line is healthy, he could be the kind of QB who makes just enough plays. We have enough talent at RB (Bourbon, Miller, Pierson) that he won't be expected to shoulder the load. If he doesn't make enough plays, we have talent coming in behind him, and I expect him to slide down the depth chart next year.

What's the name of that restaurant you like with all the goofy [expletive] on the wall and the mozzarella sticks?

Yeah, Jordan Jefferson kind of sucks at football.

The Thursday games kind of suck, but I'm desperate for meaningful football. Get here, damn it.
