i really like him. i'm not saying i think he should replace brenly, but i will say that i am somewhat tiring of his gimmicks and that campbell has been something of a breath of fresh air.

anyone else?

Campbell has been good. He doesn't quite have the rapport with Len that Bob has, but if Bob got back into managing, Campbell would be a nice replacement.

He is certainly a lot better than Otto or Pleasac.

I was a little bit curious about what some other opinions were on Campbell. I've always liked him pretty well and I think he's done a really good job these two days. Like Treeman said, I'm in no hurry to run Brenly out the door as he's quite good too, but if we did have an opening at some point I think Len and Campbell would do well together.

It has been a privilege and pleasure to my ears to listen to Dave Campbell on WGN today and Saturday. I like Bob Brenly as the color commentator for broadcasts, but Campbell was very, very good this weekend.

We're at the All-Star break, so I have one simple solution to this — fire Quade on Monday, put Brenly in the dugout, and Campbell in the booth with Len. Seems easy enough.

I would not mind seeing Brenly in the dugout considering the season does not matter but it is not going to happen and if the Cubs are replacing Quade after this year there are better options out there.

It was a little weird after hearing him all the time on MLB The Show

Indeed. It's why I hate listening to games called by Vasgersian. Sounds like I'm playing a game too much.

Yep, Campbell was fine. Today's game didn't, uh....lend itself very well to making an impression.

But yesterday I watched all the way though, and enjoyed his commentary. I also kept thinking of MLB The Show. I presume that would fade fairly quickly if he were to ever land the job full time.

I didn't really watch much of the games this weekend (only part of Saturday's game), but I'm not a fan of Soup Campbell at all. I haven't liked him from other times I've heard him broadcast, non-Cubs games.

Yeah, I'm surprised how many people enjoy him. He's essentially Joe Morgan without the "I'm the best" attitude. I guess he's fine if you are just hearing him do one game and don't pay attention, but he's constantly calling for sac bunts and moving runners over and making things happen and all that jazz.

On Saturday's game he said that one of the most important stats in baseball is two out RBI's or something like that and then Kasper said that wins aren't the best stat to judge a pitcher with and gave a reason why and Campbell shrugged him off. Campbell isn't bad because he doesn't sound completely lost when doing the game, as he's done it for a long time but his opinions would drive me nuts in the long run.

Oh yeah, I remember hearing him call a sunday night game on the radio and just going off on how important "wins" are for a pitcher and how some guys just know how to and that Zambrano specifically didn't know how to win.
