http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/rosenblog/chi-are-the-cubs-dumber-than-carlos-zambrano-20110707,0,7555893.column

For now, the story is that Zambrano threw a bullpen at Wrigley instead of in Washington because the Cubs didn’t want the big goof to further hurt or strain his back sitting on an airplane. This spasm of lucidity could impact the Cubs’ chances reaching first place in the Frickin' Idiot League.

Now get a load of this: Zambrano plans to fly to Guatemala over the All-Star break to prepare for the adoption of his son. Can you say “utter disrespect,’’ boys and girls?

That is quite frankly the most terrible article I've ever read. I thought your quotes were made up satire. Why is it so damn hard to find a sports writer who has even the faintest clue what the hell they're taking about? Thank god for Bruce, just about the only one I can read without wanting slam my face on my desk.

edit: I am amazed that Carlos has been able to restrain himself from punching some of these [expletive] idiots in the face the way they vilify him.

I can't think of one athlete who's taken more crap since 2004 for no real reason like Carlos Zambrano. He's done a couple of idiotic things since being here, but it has reached the point where he is almost literally ripped for doing anything other than playing baseball.

Wow. That's an actual article in an actual newspaper. What the hell have we become? Also, why is it wrong for him to be there during the adoption of his son during the All-Star BREAK?

That's embarrassing if you're affiliated with the tribune. How does that even get published?

honestly, this article should be a fireable offense. his ridiculing of zambrano is very personal and unprofessional. there's no way that someone like this should be working for a major big-city newspaper.

That article made no sense. It read like a bad rant from a random message board poster. Edited by bcl412

Rather than firing him he should be forced to work for the Williston Herald.

also this guy ignores the fact that z will actually have a rehab start before the all star break. So its not like his back is broken. He definitely gets more crap than the average chicago sports player and I'm not quite sure why. Yes he has had his crazy z moments. But this year the chicago sports media has become paparazzi like with regard to him and it has been more often than not unjustified. Rosenbloom is trying real hard to become the next marrioti.

hahahahahaha Nice catch imb! That might be the dumbest thing I've ever read and that includes HCCF posts. Even the ones in the politics thread.

i would like to petition the mods to rename the dave kaplan rants thread "dave kaplan and steve rosenbloom - morons" on the grounds that this blog piece is more abhorrent than any individual thing that @thekapman has said or written.

I think the impliciation is that it's wrong that he isn't healthy enough to fly with the team, but is healthy enough to take a much longer international flight.

Also, that he plans on hiring Casey Anthony as his nanny.

But anybody with 1/8 a brain would realize he stayed in Chicago because his rehab assignment will be in Peoria...

That commentary really makes me mad. I don't get where he's coming from at all. Is he trying to imply that Z is goldbricking it? I really have no idea how this piece of garbage made it past the editors at the Tribune. I guess all the stuff we've been reading about the Zell lead Tribune is true. What a shame for a once great newspaper to be printing that nonsense.

How dare he fly for something frivolous like the adoption of his son, while refusing to do so for something important like a baseball game!!! Zambrano is obviously a bad person!!!

And what's this I hear about him actually trying during batting practice? The shame!!!

I think you may be remembering the pre-Zell era through rose colored memory glasses. This is hardly any different from what this guy would always write.

Is this in the paper or just online? I was under the impression Rosenblogs stuff was all on the website now.
