Wasnt Caron Butler really bad when forced to play the 2?

Do you really think there's that much difference between the 2-3 in the NBA? Maybe he just had a bad year.

There's not too much of a difference, but there are definitely some very quick 2 guards that I wouldn't be thrilled having Butler guard. Guys like Eric Gordon and OJ Mayo would run circles around him.

Sources say there's mutual interest between the Bulls and free-agent forward Caron Butler. But Chicago hasn't ruled out also making a push for restricted free agent Marco Belinelli, whose defensive liabilities wouldn't thrill coach Tom Thibodeau but whose shooting prowess could help open the floor for Derrick Rose

Per Chris Broussard:

Josh Howard’s agent has had conversations with Chicago, Washington, Boston, New Jersey, Denver, New Orleans, Atlanta and San Antonio

Also a bit on Brandon Roy:

The Chicago Bulls would be very interested in Roy if he becomes available, but the amnesty rule gives teams that are under the salary cap the first chance to bid on waived players. That means Roy won’t be able to choose his next destination and could end up playing out his contract on a lottery team.

Ouch

KCJHoop K.C Johnson

That MVP DRose won? Expected to take his max salary extension from $14.5M to $17.4M in Year One. And from $84.2M to $101.6M overall. Wow.

Gonna hurt the Bulls in the short and long term.

Karma for him stealing the award.

Yeah, I don't see how Roy becomes a Bull. He'd have to be amnestied, and then all of the teams under the salary cap would have to pass on him at the minimum for Chicago to get him (of course, the bidding could go up from there if multiple teams end up wanting him). And if he does pass through all those teams, wouldn't that be a sign that he really has nothing left?

Both play on teams that should have no bearing on the Bulls this year.

For now, it is Paul on the market. Howard’s on deck. The New Jersey Nets will have a package of Brook Lopez(notes) and picks available for the Magic, enticing Howard with Deron Williams(notes) and a new Brooklyn arena to call his own. What’s more, the Chicago Bulls are still a sleeper for Howard, several league executives believe. “Chicago may tell Orlando to take any two players – or three – besides [Derrick] Rose,” one GM said. Howard isn’t keen on the cold weather, but the Bulls would have the best point guard-center combination since Magic and Kareem.

The Bulls have Omar Asik developing fast as a potential replacement for Joakim Noah(notes) should the Bulls include Noah in a package. Noah would have to be a part of it, but would a combination of Noah and Luol Deng(notes) or Carlos Boozer(notes) – bringing back Howard and one of those bad Orlando contracts – be enough? The Magic need a force to replace Howard, an anchor.

Yeah, it's really simple, they can have anyone but Rose.

I'd be sad losing Noah, but I'd get over it.

I would help Noah pack if it meant Dwight Howard.

Well yeah, it's a no brainer of course.

Sam Smith proposes Joakim Noah, Luol Deng and Taj Gibson, the Bulls No. 1 this season and the No. 1 they hold from Charlotte, which based on Charlotte’s roster likely would be an unprotected No. 1 in 2016. for Howard and Brandon Bass.

OK. Don't know who would replace Deng, but wouldn't really care at that point.

And now that I've raised your hopes, this mod on RealGM will crush them for you...posted on Thurs:

I had a meeting with him and his agent and manager for my work (non-basketball related) during the lockout. I spent about an hour with him. Really nice guy.

I'm a huge Bulls fan and dropped the line, "would you rather play 3 seasons with Kobe or the rest of your career with Rose." They all laughed, but Dwight quickly made it clear that he's not a fan of the city of Chicago.

I can't really go into details further than that.

It was said elsewhere in the thread that he also doesn't like big cities, but apparently he'll make an exception for LA.

The NBA is going to be extremely corny if Kobe/CP3/Howard form a trio.

Also the Bulls have a NINE game road trip starting in late January.

I think the season will get ugly at times, but man, how great will it be that there will be a great game basically every night?
