lol, a blue blood program storming the court....

They stormed after beating us last year when we were like 24th in the country.

Get off it. If there is ever a justification for rushing the court that most certainly was it.

A 3 at the buzzer to beat #1?

I'm sure Purdue and Illinois fans would have just politely applauded on the way out to their cars.

Haha, we don't have FIVE BANNERS.

Neither do these kids, or anybody related to the program. Trust me, I'm not one of those banner referencing fans.

What just happened would be the samein any college arena. Last second buzzer beater to beat #1.

Yeah, props to IU beating #1 but when is the last time Kansas, Duke, UNC, Duke, etc stormed the court?

When was the last time they won a game that was a huge upset? I'm guessing it was a few years after the last time they went into a season with 3 scholarship players.

I'd be interested to see the examples they didn't after beating their rival at home who was #1 on a last second three. That perfect scenario of events doesn't happen very often. Strangely, it's the second time it's happened to IU in 11 years.

I know you guys said Oladipo is really improved, but I can't imagine him even touching the ball is a good idea in that situation.

Unfortunately, he might be the best option. It's really either him or Watford. Hulls is best as a decoy that the other team can't leave, Zeller needs to be on the floor and involved with the play but not someone you just want to give the ball to, and Jones isn't consistent enough to give the ball to in that situation. Oladipo can drive and either get fouled or pass it off to Zeller or Watford inside. That will be a problem for IU this year-their offense is so balanced, but they don't have a guy who can create mismatches down the stretch.

Is it ok yet for me to assume that IU will make the tournament?

I hope UK wins every game the rest of the year.

Yeah, IU is getting in, barring a major disaster. They're going to go undefeated non-conference now, that's already 13 wins. Get Iowa twice, Penn St twice, Nebraska, Illinois in Bloomington, and now Minnesota and Purdue look pretty beatable. Get those first 5 conference wins then you're looking at winning 3 more conference games and a B1G tourney game away from a 22 win team.

I don't understand why every court-storm is subject to review by the committee. This team has been crappy for the better part of 4 years (no 4-year student there has seen anything worth crap to this point) and they beat #1 in about the most thrilling way possible. Storm the court.

I don't really care if it was "approved" or not. That was the moment IU fans have been anticipating for 4 years. I still think they will have some ups and downs this year, but that was a great moment. It was the first time in I can't remember how long I yelled out in a positive way while watching an IU game. Any win against UK is huge, let alone when they are ranked #1.

And to think IU loses just Jones and Danny freakin Moore next season while bringing in loads of talent.

Well, I was wrong about a couple things:

First, it turned out there was one unaccounted-for family ticket and I was able to go. Pretty great.

Second, knowing what I know now, I think Pomeroy's line was pretty accurate. Not necessarily because of IU, but because UK has some issues and I'm not sure they're nearly as good as I thought (they're obviously one of the best handful of teams in the country though). I think 3.5 was still way too low, but the six-point line probably not. I could see that game being UK by more than six points about half the time and less than six points half the time, roughly.

Zeller's not even Indiana's best player. Get off your storyline Dick.

Zeller is easily IU's best player. Coming into today, he led IU in points, rebounds, steals, blocks, and field goal percentage. He was second in effective field goal percentage*, second in true shot percentage*, and third in offensive rating*. Plus, he's 6-foot-11.

*Excluding players in limited/nearly invisible roles according to Pomeroy (e.g., Austin Etherington and Matt Roth).

Here are UNC fans after storming the court last year after beating Duke by 14 points:

Here are Duke fans after storming the court after beating Virginia Tech (4-12 in the ACC) in 2005:

Neither of those games involved a big upset of the No. 1 team in the nation and one did not even include a buzzer-beater (the one with the buzzer beater was against Virginia freakin' Tech). And neither set of fans had just watched a combined 28 wins in three years.

Notre Dame screams "let down game." I'm now pretty worried about that game.

There is exceedingly little chance you lose to ND even sleepwalking. ND's best showing this year is probably their loss to a fairly bad Maryland team. The team is Scott Martin (who's not good) and a bunch of kids not ready for the roles they have to play. You'll be fine.
