Jordan Jefferson is about to be kicked off LSU'd team I think. Dude is in some big time trouble. Also, cops seized 49 pairs of sneakers from his apt. I don't think I've owned half that many shoes in my entire life.

LSU is probably better off without him.

Yeah, I'm sure they can find somebody to throw more picks than touchdowns on their roster somewhere.

Are you suggesting that replacing XXX with a&m greatly improves the schedule?

It would improve it a little bit, but not by much. That's a pretty horrid home schedule for a BCS team.

Just you wait until you see that 2013 conference schedule featuring teams like Iowa, Nebraska, Michigan, Ohio State, and Notre Dame.

And if not that it will be with USC, Stanford, UCLA, etc. Annual Tailgating and mixing Texas women with Cali women has a very nice appeal to it

Well when you're one of the traditional powerhouses of a league, and you always play the other traditional powerhouse at a neutral site, the home schedule is never going to be out of this world good. 2009 wasn't really different:

UL Monroe

Texas Tech

UTEP

Colorado

UCF

Kansas

Nebraska

And that team went to the National Championship game. Or even this year's slate (Rice, BYU, OSU, Kansas, Texas Tech, KSU) isn't really any different.

That's assuming the Big 12-3 doesn't collapse. If it stays together its only cause they add a couple of major names and realign.

Not at all, but at least it was something to sell to fans. Missouri MAY be a decent game. The rest flat out suck. If they can pull off the longshot and get Notre Dame to move their USC game, then that would more than adequately fill A&M's slot on the schedule. But what if they don't and they still refuse to play us? Add in the fact that they might very well have a 2nd straight mediocre season and ticket sales won't be all that brisk for 2012.

Well they'll put someone there. They aren't going to play 1 fewer game bc they took a&m off. I don't know about ND in 2012 (dont see them moving usc) but it'd be great down the road.

I'm sure they sell out. But it's still beside the point. A&M on the schedule rather than one of the 50 or so comparable or better programs doesn't make a lick of difference to Texas.

I would be hard pressed to come up with 50 programs better than A&M (30 possibly but not 50) and it is a big rivalry game which makes it more important that everything but the marquee matchups. I bet Texas fans will grumble if Texas A&M is replaced by a Houston but there should still be enough Texas fans for it to not really affect their attendance.

So did A&M have trouble selling out after more than a decade of sucking?

Texas is built for 2012 either way, and most people are expecting for 8-9 wins max. They will still post a top 15 Defense this. They have a true freshman QB that they love that will take over if Gilbert doesn't get it very early, and all of their top recruits are performing much higher than expecting (Brown, Diggs, Shipley all expected to start very early one). They will run the ball better this year and the best they have since J Charles was at Texas. They have the #1 class for 2012 right now, are a finalist for DGB, Peat, and Agholor with a visit from Landon Collins coming.

Comparable or better, I said. Houston wasn't one of the teams I had on mind.

I only said Houston because they are one of the names rumored to be a possible replacement in the Big 12.

If A&M got replaced with a California for example, I doubt the fans would be nearly as excited. They may be a comparable team but they are not that rival with the huge history behind it. For many Texas fans OU has become a bigger rival than Texas A&M, but the rivalry is still pretty big.

Yes. It's not like the stadium was half full or anything, but sell outs were once or twice a year at best. Now we are less than 500 seats away from selling out the stadium in season tickets. The resurgence of the team combined with the pending SEC move has greatly increased demand and sales.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. The schedule isn't going to turn great bc of any 1 game. So add one of the other good programs to replace A&M and it makes no difference to Texas. They still are going to recruit the same and they're still going to have their season largely depend on the OU game. If a few fans are annoyed, big deal. After this little tantrums by A&M, you think Texas fans want to see the aggies on the schedule?

Inspired by the NFL thread, I went in search of college futures bets.

Washington State total wins 4.5 (-160)u

Boise State average points 42.5(-130)u

Auburn total wins 6.5(+110)o

Auburn has a lot of young talent, but they will start the season with very little experience. I'm not betting the house on the over.

check out the NCAA's official statement regarding Danny Sheridan.

http://www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect/public/ncaa/resources/latest+news/2011/august/ncaa+statement+on+danny+sheridan+comments

Danny Sheridan continues to make vague, unsubstantiated claims without backing them up with proof. Contrary to his claims of having an inside source with details on the Auburn investigation, the NCAA has not provided information to Sheridan or anyone else. As a matter of due diligence, the NCAA spoke with Sheridan this week to determine if he had any facts pertaining to the investigation. Sheridan, however, did not provide any information to the enforcement staff and certainly did not provide a name. Instead, he unsuccessfully attempted to gather information for his own use.

Sick burn, Old Style.

Even though it would likely thrust KU into the Big West, I kind of wish UT would go to the SEC, just to watch aTm fans piss down their legs and bitch and moan.

Tantrum? We're in a bad spot now so we're finding a better spot for our athletic program. The tantrums are being thrown by Baylor, who realizes that when the Big 12 crumbles that they are royally fucked, and by the Longhorns, who are allegedly going to refuse to play us simply because we found a better home & won't allow them to push us around anymore.

Even though it would likely thrust KU into the Big West, I kind of wish UT would go to the SEC, just to watch aTm fans piss down their legs and bitch and moan.

Texas wouldn't be able to push anyone around in the SEC, so I would have no qualms about them joining us.

Yes, making a huge fuss and applying to change conferences in August after you re-upped last year, when nothing has changed, definitely qualifies as a tantrum. This whole sequence is an inferiority complex gone rogue.

I think Texas fans would definitely want the Aggies on the schedule after this. Are you saying that as an ND fan if USC did something like this that you would no longer want them on the schedule?

To say the A&M game is the linchpin to Texas's season is really silly. To say that it makes no difference to Texas or their fans whether they play A&M is IMO also silly. That's all I'm saying. I mean, they each reference the other team in their fight songs! The history makes it a big game for many.

That would be true if nothing had indeed changed.
