TBrownYahoo: Can confirm Fox report. Angels are now in strong on Pujols.

And who is Olney's source that we are going to emerge with a Ryan Howard like offer for Prince? Does anyone consider him credible?

I used to like Olney but I feel like he's been all over the place this offseason.

That said, I literally trust almost no reporter right now.

Why would he tweet that if he had no source?

All I know is Jed dodged the questions today about Prince. I am not sure why, but I still feel they are flying under the radar with Pujols. Ricketts has an open checkbook, so why would we not be signifigant players for either Pujols or Fielder?

I feel like you're stuck in the old Jim Hendry mindset... where we've got x amount of money and we must spend every single penny of it.

Theo and Hoyer are good at what they do in large part because they realize when it's a good idea not to spend that money. If the contracts Pujols and Fielder are getting would hamper the Cubs more than they're worth, I imagine we're exploring other options to fill that hole.

Where did I say he didn't have a source? I just don't think his sources are any good. It seems like every time he reports something, multiple reports come out saying something else.

He didn't tweet that the Cubs were GOING to emerge with a Ryan Howard like offer, he tweeted that the Cubs COULD GET Fielder, with a Howard type offer.

Big difference.

"MILW playing it right in the way they're negotiating with Fielder, but Cubs could grab this thing by the throat with Ryan Howard-type offer."

Then why not insert any team in baseball in that tweet? And more to the point, why mention Howard's deal? He must have heard something.

Pujols I can see but there has not even been a market set on Prince. Heck, no one has even offered him a deal as far as we know. However, I understand your point with Theo and Jed. I know they have a plan.

He probably did hear something, but are his sources worth a [expletive]? That's the point.

Dammit, this is beginning to feel like last NBA off season all over again to me.

Except we don't already have one of the best players in the league

We do have one of the best young players in the league. But he's only 1/9 of the team and can't have the ball as much as he wants.
