Jason Taylor signs with the Dolphins. I'm confused...why did they let him go in the first place?

This is his 3rd time with the Dolphins.

I am aware of that...not sure what your point is.

Gotta love any stat that lists Jay Cutler as "Below Average" and groups him with such studs as Shaun Hill, Jason Campbell, Matt Hasselbeck, Chad Henne, Donovan McNabb, Sam Bradford and Alex Smith.

Hey, it's his fault he took so many sacks in crunch time.

He really needs to be more mobile.

Speaking of the 06 draft, how good do the Texans look? Taking Mario Williams over Bush and Young. I remember thinking they were the biggest dumbasses ever for that.

ESPN is creating a new QB rating formula that takes into account the game situation.

Seems marginally less stupid than the current system.

It seems absolutely ridiculous, since the big name behind it seems to be Trent Dilfer, who is the douchiest douche of all ex-QB douches when it comes to evaluating others QBs.

so we can already see that rob is obese and a loudmouth, much like his brother... i wonder if he is also into ladies' feet?

re the Eagles, i don't think people appreciate how bad they're going to be at trying to stop the run. aside from Cole and Fokou, the whole defense is comprised of guys who are bad-to-awful in that area, including the two worst run defending CBs in football and they lost one of the best in the box safeties in the league and just traded away a premier run stopping DT

they'll be impossible to throw against, but i really expect physical teams to dominate their defense for stretches

Eagles just traded Kolb to the Cardinals for Rodgers-Cromartie.

That's a blockbuster. Interesting trade.

i'm pretty thrilled about it. kolb wasn't going to play, so we basically got a second round pick and a CB who made the pro bowl in 2009 for nothing.

I think it was an obviously great trade for Philly, but Vick isn't invincible... didnt he miss a good amount of time last year with a broken shoulder? Any other injuries? Now your backup is Vince Young, arguably much worse than Kolb. I guess what I'm saying is, saying that you got those things "for nothing" is not quite the truth.

And now I sit back and hope that Vick goes down before playoffs and Young blows it in the NFC title game vs. the Cards.

i'd argue VY is the perfect backup for Vick, in that now they won't have to adjust their offensive gameplan much even if he misses time

There's definitely an opportunity cost here, but anytime someone is willing to send you a pro bowl caliber CB for your backup QB, that's pretty much a no brainer, unless you don't believe in your starting QB. Vince Young is not a superstar, but he's no Todd Collins either. Plus I think he would be running a similar offense since they both have scrambling ability and strong arms. I gotta think that having the ability to bring in your backup and not have to change your gameplan mid-game has to be a big positive for the Eagles, since chances are Vick will miss at least a little bit of action this year.

Their 3rd stringer also has a strong arm and is a quick scrambler, FWIW.

Eagles sign RB Ronnie Brown.

Him and Vick and McCoy in some version of the Wildcat is just another strange weapon the Eagles can employ. Should score a lot of points.

I agree with this completely. When the Titans officially cut Vince I said on here that the Eagles would be the perfect place for him and I think this is actually an upgrade at backup QB. Vince isn't a particularly special QB right now - in fact he's been average to below average his entire career - but Kolb hasn't shown much to think he's special either. Factor in that Vince fits the Vick offense significantly better than Kolb and that there won't need to be changes made when Vince comes in, I think VY is a better fit in Philly.

That said, I'm also unsure if Kolb is capable of being a very good NFL QB, while I think the only thing Vince needs to do is learn to work harder and be more prepared to make him a very good NFL QB. We know he can make game winning plays and lead an offense, he just needs to read defenses and be able to run a more open offense - two things that come with better preparation.

Football Outsiders ranks McNabb, Hill, Henne ahead of him last year.

FO counts sacks as passes. Which obviously is a big hindrance for Jay, given the OL.

Okay but Detroit's pass protection was worse (last in the league) and Washington's was only 5 spots ahead of the Bears.
