Pretty sure we'll put the forfeit lineup out there on Sunday...

We'll know by game time if the faint hopes for the #1 seed are alive or not.

If they are, we'll also be working on getting the Bucs into the playoffs.

The pessimistic, Bears fan says by laying down on Sunday, I'm nervous about having three weeks between meaningful football games. But the rational fan in me wants this unbelievable health streak strong by not having any important players even dress for Sunday's game.

I just want to not care about the game.

as cool as it would have been to see a high pressure packers-bears game, at least my heart will survive for another few weeks

i dont see lovie putting out a strong lineup after a quarter or two now (considering we'll know if we're alive in the 1 seed hunt by the time we play) and he's shown that he can and will rest starters with a bye locked up

still kinda wish we'd play full effort and try to knock a team that has the potential to be the best team in the nfc out of the playoffs

To make 1 thing clear just cause we got the 1st rd bye 2nite don't think we just plan on rolling over Sun against Green Bay

That just means Todd Collins and the backups will try really hard for the 3/4 of the game they play.

Just give Rodgers another concussion before the starters get pulled and consider the mission accomplished. :hello:

Lovie has already mentioned on several occasions that he wants to finish with a 6-0 division record. Then throw in the fact that his #1 goal is to beat GB and I don't think you'll see him roll over. I think they'll play the first half as they would a normal game, and then pull the plug in the 2nd half if they're trailing. It's not really a matter of not trying though. It comes down to simple desperation and after the Vikings win tonight (thank you btw), the Packers will have a ton more of that.

Before Packers fans celebrate though, let's be modest about their playoff aspirations. They're looking at a path of @Philly, @Atlanta, and @Chicago/New Orleans in order to reach the SB. They really needed to grab that 5th seed, which at this point is a virtual first-round bye. In addition, Philly won't have anything to play for next week so I assume all the starters (especially Vick) will get a rest, meaning they shouldn't really feel the effects of those 3 games in 12 days.

I know the idea is just to get in and that itself is something to be excited about, but they'll just have a ridiculous mountain to climb if they want to earn the trip to Dallas. Celebrate the probable win and playoff berth coming this Sunday, but keep things in perspective.

I think Packers fans just want to get in. Most of them believe they are as talented, if not more, as any other NFC team and if given the opportunity, can make a run to the Super Bowl. All you can do at this point is accept the position you are in and figure out a way to just get in.

BTW, if Lovie's priorities this Sunday include finishing with a 6-0 division record, and beating GB, he's got his priorities mixed up. It would be cool seeing a 6-0 division record, as I believe I read that no NFC North team has done that since play began.

Well of course we'd have a ridiculous road to Dallas. That's what happens when you're relegated to the 6 seed.

I'll keep things in perspective. You wouldn't have to worry about that.

True, but it's the NFL and it's hard to get to the Superbowl. That and we dominated Philly (granted with a healthy team and Vick didn't start) and we should have beat Atlanta and could have beat the Bears.

Considering the injuries I just want in and take my chances. With Rodgers and our receivers we have a shot to make a run.

while i firmly believe chris harris thinks this, he isn't in a position to make that decision

Don't try Sunday please.

Thanks.

Agreed, Bears would be stupid for playing the starters on the chance for home-field advantage against the Falcons. It ain't that big of a deal.

Also, go Falcons and Bucs!!

Lol whoops. Don't worry, I'm sure the Falcons will be all you need to make sure the Bears won't be playing for a #1 seed come game time.

You're right. I should have said "Go Falcons and Saints!" If one of those two teams win, then the Bears will have nothing to play for.

I'm still rooting for the Saints and Redskins just in case we blow it. We never make anything easy on ourselves.
