Any chance the Vikings new stadium will be outdoors, or will you continue to play nancy pants football?

 

Up in the air. Originally the idea was for an outdoor only stadium but then you lose any chance of hosting the Super Bowl, Final Four and any kind of events/conventions/concerts when the weather isn't great. So then having a retractable roof became the main target but that's more expensive to build and get the funding for, which is the main issue.

The madness ends for good after Week 17, so they're trying to squeeze every last drop of him they can. Plus, I think they're just looking for excuses to keep Ed Werder employed.

 

As long as Dallas has a football team, Ed Werder will have a reason to be employed.

I'd pretty happily take Albert back in Nashville. He's still probably the best defensive lineman in the game when he tries and the key is to pander to him a bit. Keep him happy and he'll perform – that's what Fisher and Washburn understood and Shanahan doesn't.

What would be the point of a retractable roof? That's a lot of extra money for the roof being open for 4-5 home games a year.

its probably just the in vogue thing to do. I do know someone on the design team, and his explanation was the desire to have both those incredible fall days in the upper-midwest games outside with all the ambiance of downtown as well as the ability to play indoors in January because of the cold.

 

 

Its hard for me to argue one way or the other. I think the RollerDome is actually really good for the Vikings, and they should simply renovate it, but I also happen to have a cousin (my source^) who is one of the principles at HKS who is working on that project. He was involved with the Colts facility too, fwiw. So, I wouldn't mind seeing him keep busy as well.

Titans/Colts is usually a really good game, but I have a feeling tonight's game is going to be a crapfest. Both teams have been playing terribly and it'll either be a 3-0 game with impotent offenses or a 30-0 Colt blowout win.

 

If the Titans don't win out, I predict Fisher is out after the year. He may be anyway, but missing the playoffs after the Vince saga will almost certainly do him in.

Wow Fisher should be fired for how he handled the clock on that last drive.

 

32 seconds left, no timeouts, down 9 on the 20 yard line, he throws short of the end zone twice. One gets out of bounds, 1 is 2 yards short of the end zone in the middle of the field. By the time Collins spiked the ball there was only 4 seconds left on the clock. I don't know why they don't kick the FG in those situations. Yes the TD is harder, and yes the FG might miss, but you need to put yourself in a position where you have the ball and need 1 score to tie/win. Meaning, kick the FG, make it a one possession game and try your onside kick. If he kicks a FG and recovers an onside he has probably 24 seconds left to make something happen.

They did last year - or at least had a Web show in which they would stream some of the game and have analysis as it was going on. For obvious reasons they didn't stream the whole game, but you saw the most important parts.
