White Sox Offer Kerry Wood Two Years

The White Sox just landed Jesse Crain, but they aren't done yet. Fred Mitchell and David Kaplan of The Chicago Tribune report that the ChiSox have offered Kerry Wood a two-year contract.

 

Wood, 33, is reportedly seeking a two-year deal worth $12MM, and interestingly enough a Wood-White Sox rumor was shot down last week. The former Cub pitched to a 3.13 ERA in 46 innings in 2010, aided greatly by his brilliant stint with the Yankees. After being acquired at the trade deadline, Wood pitched to a 0.69 ERA with 10.7 K/9 in 26 innings with New York, though he walked way too many batters a 6.2 per nine innings.

Hahahaha Hendry's big splash move of the off-season! I'm a homer, so I can't lie and say that I won't be happy to see him in a Cubs uniform again.

It will be depressing when/if he sucks. But I'm so glad to (maybe) have him back.

Yeah, I feel really conflicted about this. As a move, it's stupid. But at the same time it's awesome.

 

It probably wouldn't have happened, but seeing him in a pale hosers uni would have killed me a little. Plus it would mean my wife would complain less about me watching the Cubs all the time (she has a thing for Kerry).

I know this probably isn't the best use of the team's limited money, but I can't help but like the idea of bringing Wood back. Hopefully this means that he will finish his career as a Cub. As someone else mentioned, hopefully it also means that Cashner won't be forced into a bullpen role and can begin the season as a starter.

Like someone else said, Woody is the only guy who I think with my heart towards and not my brain. I don't give a crap if he sucks nuts now, I want him back as a Cub and I want him to retire as a cub. Yes, I regress to 12 years old when I think about Kerry, but I don't care if the deal sucks.

 

Bring back one of my favorite, classiest, bleeding cubs blue players of all time.
