The Bears got an extra 1.5 points yesterday I think. I'm pretty sure I saw Biggs tweet it.

He was the one I heard on the radio this morning say that it was because of Stanton.

Apparently Taylor has gotten into fights with teammates in both Baltimore and Minnesota.

Bell got into a fight with a fellow running back at UCLA (though it was universally considered the other guy's fault).

Chester Taylor, along with Brandon Manumaleuna, has been pretty worthless this year. 2.6ypc. Only 14 receptions. Barely 300 total yards this year. Good thing Peppers has been one of the top 3 defensive players in the league this year or else this would have been a terrible offseason.

Especially since, ya know, they didn't use any of the tons of money they spent on an offensive lineman.

But the important thing to remember is Chester Taylor is not a backup running back.

Taylor has been rather worthless.

Is it just me or is he suddenly unable to even keep his feet under him? I feel like he's going to tip over or something, every time he gets the ball.

Maybe Bell was suggesting something along those lines -- umm, maybe you ought to think about showing up for a change, Chester. You aren't exactly impressing anyone around Halas Hall.

Bell deserves some carries. He averaged 5.5 ypc last year on 40 carries. Now that number was largely skewed by a 72-yard run on his first NFL carry, but still. He's a 23 year old back with good size.

Taylor has indeed been pretty bad, especially his last two games where he ran for 10 yards on 11 carries and -3 yards on 6 carries in games where Forte pretty much ran with ease.

He was supposed to be this amazing pass catching back, too.

On screens he hasn't seemed all that impressive either.

If they knew Forte would come back this strong they likely wouldn't have signed him. It's true -- without the Peppers signing this would have been a horrible offseason. Thank goodness Julius is performing.

I think the problem is that he is too similar to Forte. His value in Minnesota was he was a great 3rd down back that could receive, pick up the blitz, and give you some yards on a draw. Well, Forte being able to do all that and all of that better, makes Taylor redundant.

I guess you can argue Taylor's prescence motivated Forte to play better, but that's probably not true as it's probably more of a case of Forte being healthy this year. Bell does deserve some carries.

Well you still needed a backup RB. I suppose you could've gone with Bell, but it's hard to have too much depth at RB. The Taylor signing made sense at the time. The Manumaleuna signing was weird then, with TE being a strong position and is really dumb in retrospect. The only way to justify that was if Manumaleuna was a really strong blocker, and he hasn't been, with a few exceptions.

This is interesting.

RB Maurice Jones-Drew has started 30 consecutive games, the second most in the league for active running backs. Chicago’s Matt Forte (42) leads and Tennessee’s Chris Johnson (26) is third.

Forte has started 12 more games in a row than any other RB in the league? That's pretty remarkable and shows how short the shelf life of an NFL RB is.

He hasn't been flashy, but he shows up..

I hate when Taylor is in the game, because you know he'll get the ball, run into the back of the O-Line and fall down. EVERY TIME

I liked this column by Pompei on the Bears coaching staff. This year's staff is so incredibly different from the early Lovie years. He insisted on teachers which basically meant inexperienced college coaches. It was a horrible idea. The only consistent part of the team has the same guy running it. But every other area has had a lot of turnover. Tice being an offensive line coach is pretty big. A legit OC in Martz with lots of NFL experience and success is important. Guys like Babich going back to less responsibility now with more NFL experience, and Marinelli moving into the DC role has to have helped.

They've gone from one exteme of no experience to the other of a plethora of experience including guys coaching down a level or two from their peak experience.

I thought Marinelli was supposed to be a "teacher" too though?

it's not like being a teacher and having experience are mutually exclusive. i don't know how much marinelli has helped our defense in terms of production on the field, but the players seem to love him and they think he's helping them.

as far as all this super bowl talk, it's embarrassing. everyone should be thinking super bowl, but not saying it. maybe it's the media bringing it up, but i still don't like hearing it after the team has a good month.

The Jets were non-stop talking about the Super Bowl since last winter, coming off a 9-7 season and without doing anything impressive yet this year. What's wrong with it?

Marinelli was a teacher with a ton of NFL experience. Lovie's original cast of teachers were a bunch of guys with limited college coaching experience.

oh, i'm not saying it inhibits their chances of making the super bowl in any way. i just don't like the idea of everyone talking super bowl because we're 8-3. i haven't really heard much about the super bowl from the wisconsin media regarding the packers, nor have i heard much super bowl talk from packers players.

so the jets are talking super bowl, that doesn't surprise me. rex ryan has a big mouth and isn't afraid to brag a little bit. i'm sure both he and they will be humiliated when the jets inevitably screw things up.

Well, it's not like Pittsburgh stays hush about the Super Bowl, or the people around New England for that matter. It's better than "contend within the division talk".
